Nikon interview - 'the D500 is the D300S replacement that customers wanted' | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it
DPReview was in Yokohama, Japan last month for the annual CP+ photography show. As well as reporting from the show floor, and getting our hands on the latest cameras and lenses, we also made time to sit down with senior executives from several of the major manufacturers, including Nikon. We spoke to Nikon about the company's new DL-series compact cameras, the D500 and D5 and the future of the 1 System.

Nikon D5500 review

Nikon D5500 review | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

For the most part, a few little changes can add up to a great camera with the Nikon D5500. It’s got the same sensor and processor as the D53300, but some improvements to the way it handles make it a more tempting proposition overall.

For those who are on the look out for their first DSLR camera, you can do way worse than to pick up a D5500, especially if you can find one offered at a good price, or with a great cashback offer available.

While Nikon hasn’t exactly revolutionised the beginner end of the market here, it keeps it steadily ticking along and that’s good enough for now.

Nikon D7200 review: Sharp shooting - Mirror.co.uk

Nikon D7200 review: Sharp shooting - Mirror.co.uk | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

If you're a complete amateur looking for your first ever DSLR, then the Nikon D7200is probably more than you'll need. There are cheaper DSLRs out there that'll also serve your purpose.

But if you're a serious hobbyist - or require decent pictures for your profession - then this is a fitting step up from an entry-level DSLR, compact camera or even your smartphone.

It's particularly suited to landscape photographers because of the rugged casing.

D7200 Review - Tom's Guide

A full feature-set and solid performance — from autofocus to continuous shooting — are only some of the D7200's strong points. This DSLR also delivers excellent color rendition, sharpness and exposure, particularly at lower ISOs.

Despite a few shortfalls, such as limited manual exposure control in video, the D7200 is a solid update to its predecessor. The Canon EOS 70D has an edge in terms of video capture, but if you're a Nikon shooter and want a midrange DSLR, the D7200 is for you.

Nikon D7200 - PC Magazine

Nikon D7200 - PC Magazine | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

The Nikon D7200 offers some small improvements when compared with the D7100—including an increased shooting buffer, improvements in video capture, and built-in Wi-Fi. But other manufacturers have made greater strides in the past two years. Every other camera in this category can shoot a bit faster than the D7200—whether it be by a modest margin, like the Canon 70D (7fps) and the Pentax K-3 (8.1fps), or by a wide one, like the Canon 7D Mark II (10fps) and the Sony Alpha 77 II (12fps). And, while the D7200 has made strides in its pro video capabilities, more casual videographers may prefer the smoother autofocus offered by some other SLRs, and pros will likely look for a model with 4K capability.

Those criticisms aside, one must look at the image quality offered by the D7200, which is outstanding, as is the control layout. And, while its burst rate may be bettered by others in its class, it can shoot faster than entry-level models, and both its autofocus system and pentaprism viewfinder are much better than you'll find in less expensive cameras. The D7200's improvements certainly aren't worth upgrading from a D7100, though if you have an older Nikon SLR and don't want to move to full-frame, it's a compelling option.

D7200: the More Sensitive and Sociable Sibling of the D7100

D7200: the More Sensitive and Sociable Sibling of the D7100 | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

f you already have a D7100, we would say hold out for a future release to upgrade – there just isn’t enough here to justify an upgrade unless shooting in low light at high ISO ranges is your specialty. If you are trying to decide between a D7100 and a D7200, just ask yourself if you intend to shoot past ISO 6400 and whether or not you want WiFi compatibility for your smartphone – within those questions lay your answer.

Hello, ISO 3,280,000... Nikon D5 studio test scene comparison published

Hello, ISO 3,280,000... Nikon D5 studio test scene comparison published | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it
Just moments after the Nikon D5 rolled into our office we whisked it into our studio, putting the flagship FX-format DSLR in front of our test scene. We were curious to see exactly what the 20.8MP CMOS sensor is capable of, and what its impressive ISO range looks like - especially its astronomical ISO sensitivity limit of ISO 3.3 million. And we couldn't resist sharing some initial thoughts with you. So what does ISO 3 million look like? See for yourself if any of the ISOs above the D4S' previous maximum ISO offer anything useful. Nikon's claims of better ISO performance due to color filter array optimizations appear to have some merit: noise levels in Raw mode are slightly lower in comparison to the D4S, or any other camera, when normalized. Although the performance advantage is more obvious at higher ISOs, like 204,800, the actual benefit does appear to be minimal at best.

Nikon D7200 review - Stuff

Nikon D7200 review - Stuff | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

Despite its similarities to its predecessor, the D7200 takes a better photo, decent video and it’s well-constructed too. While not particularly heavy, it is hefty – even by DSLR standards. That gives it a feeling of seriousness, but also means you’ll need a strong neck or a decent bag if you want to lug it around all day.

D7200 review: The all-weather enthusiast DSLR

D7200 review: The all-weather enthusiast DSLR | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

A couple of years ago, we reviewed Nikon's D7100, an impressively capable all-weather DSLR with one notable shortcoming. Although it gave Nikonians a whole lot of camera in most respects, the D7100 was hobbled by inadequate buffer that could fill in less than a second. The followup Nikon D7200addresses that key criticism with a much, much more generous buffer depth. It also brings some handy upgrades that aim to bring it up right up to date with its rivals.

D810 Review: The Ultimate Adventure Camera?

D810 Review: The Ultimate Adventure Camera? | Nikon digital SRL cameras | Scoop.it

The D810 is an incredible camera that excels in many different types of photography, including landscape, portraiture, and action — all of which lend themselves to the niche of adventure photography.

The camera is built like a tank and designed to take serious weather and abuse, all while delivering astounding image quality that’s usually only found in cumbersome medium format cameras. Though the D810 is big and heavy, a fast, sensitive focusing system allows it to capture fleeting moments without hesitation.

Camera Test: Nikon D7200

Overall, the D7200 is a worthy upgrade from the D7100, though you may not feel the need to step up from that body unless you are serious about video or need the added buffer depth in burst shooting.
