Nikon fans looking to make a movie may love the D800's dual video modes and huge 36 MP CMOS Sensor. But there's a lot more under ... Aspect ratio in both modes is 16:9, but FX movie mode offers a larger width than in still image.
You would expect a 36MP sensor to offer pretty special image quality, and that is certainly the case here. This is by some distance the best I've ever used, and after getting to use the D800 in some bright sunlight, the images ...
Who says the Nikon D800 isn't cut out for indoor sports? Used the Nikon 80-200 lens at f/2.8 on Iso 6400. I did not use Raw+Jpg for these pics but decided to use Tiff format for high quality shots while being able to use ...
Nikon D3s: 12 megapixels. Nikon D4: 16 megapixels. Nikon D800: 36 megapixels. Larger pixels (fewer megapixels) are better for noise, right? Right? And what about image detail, not just at lower ISO values but at higher ...
I guess everyone is awaiting for this review of my newly acquired D800.
Then there is room for a sensor that bridges the strengths of these two cameras; the Canon 5D MkIII may be in that spot, and a rumored 24-megapixel Nikon D600 FX camera may join it there. It would be interesting to expand ...

After a couple month long wait, and a tough decision to jump the Canon ship and come back to Nikon, the D800E finally arrived in my hands this week. I hope to get to be able to write about my overall impressions and offer an ...

How Long to Convert 500 Nikon D800 14-bit NEF to JPEG? Part of John K's concern of using RAW (NEF) is the time to convert to JPEG for 1000 files or so from a wedding or similar. Surely one can waste a great deal of time ...
The Nikon D800 at ISO 12800 can produce very usable images, at least for certain types of pictures and videos. This is a quick clip of a USB plasma ball, photographed in a very dark room. The still shot is what I used to end ...
As I continue processing images from my first D800 at ISO 12800 test, I'm struck by another big gap in the current Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4: There are no lens profiles for the Nikon D800. It looks like Adobe Labs ...

Seems like people are getting dumber by the day, especially the Nikon morons. I thought it was pretty clear from my last post that the image quality of the Nikon D800 was fucking awful compared to the 5D Mark III.
Nikon's full frame sensor ("FX" format) has a size of approximately 36x24mm, which equals 864mm⊃2;. In other words (864 ÷ 384), the FX sensor is 2.25 times larger than the DX sensor. In yet other words, if the D800 sensor was ...
