Kris Letang returns to practice less than two months after stroke | Post-to-Post | Everything Hockey | Scoop.it

Last week, doctors decided it was safe to take Letang off blood thinners. And though his teammates were, obviously, concerned about being physical with him during today’s skate, the 26-year-old defenseman expressed to them that he wanted to face that challenge.

Christina Guenther's insight:

One step closer to adding 2 more active players back! This is great news considering the amount of injuries the Pens have been faced with this season.

Blues better off with Ryan Miller - The Hockey Daily

Blues better off with Ryan Miller - The Hockey Daily | Everything Hockey | Scoop.it

St. Louis Blues acquire goaltender Ryan Miller from Buffalo Sabres. After months of fan speculation, including a prophetic, albeit obvious prediction by Grantland's Sean McIndoe, The St. Louis Blues have finally acquired goaltender Ryan Miller from the bottom dwelling Buffalo Sabres. The official deal looks as follows:

Christina Guenther's insight:

This is a great opportunity for both Ryan Miller and the St. Louis Blues to prove themselves. What's even more exciting is that no matter what the Blues have definitely upgraded in goaltending. Get ready St. Louis because it's "Miller Time"!

Stephen Zimmett's curator insight, March 4, 2014 2:18 PM

Hopefully Ryan Miller can do for st. Louis what he could not do for Buffalo. The Sabres could not give him any support. He was the best goal tender in the 2010 winter games

Olympic hockey tournament bracket set; USA, Canada on collision course

Olympic hockey tournament bracket set; USA, Canada on collision course | Everything Hockey | Scoop.it
Sweden earned the top seed in the tournament when the Finns and Canada went to overtime on Sunday, as no one could match their nine points. Team USA finished second with eight points, by virtue of their goal differential. Canada took the No. 3 seed with their overtime win over Finland, who is the No. 4 seed.
Christina Guenther's insight:

There will be 4 qualification games, which will push 4 teams to enter the quarterfinals. In one game, Slovenia will play Austria the winner will meet Sweden in the quarterfinals. Russia will play Norway the winner will then take on Finland. Switzerland plays Latvia and the winner moves on to play Canada in the quarterfinals, while Czech Republic battles Slovakia. The winner of that game plays USA on Wednesday for a quarterfinals matchup.

Predictions anyone?

I agree with this because in the first week some teams are undefeated and the fans get all excited but then they don't even make the playoffs. Also when a team sucks in the beginning of the year and the fans get made fun of and then they make the playoffs.

Sidney Crosby thinks the team that won gold for Canada on Sunday might be even better than any other in international tournament play.

...basically it was great hockey. The Canadian team made it one hell of a fight for the opposing teams. They're defensive most certainly lead them to the gold.

A Wild Valentine's Day - Minnesota Wild - Blogs

A Wild Valentine's Day - Minnesota Wild - Blogs | Everything Hockey | Scoop.it

Valentine's Day is always a tricky holiday. From those parties in elementary school where you decorated your box and carefully selected each valentine for everyone to ensure no one got the wrong idea (because how embarrassing would it be if your crush actually found out you liked them). But adulthood doesn't make it any easier as you're forced to find the right restaurant, gift and candies to show your beau — or belle — how much you care.

Christina Guenther's insight:

Props to the Minnesota Wild for their creative approach in advertising this Valentines Day. These cards are hilarious :)

Oral history of 2010 gold-medal game

It was an emotional roller coaster, a day neither Canada nor the United States will forget. We look back on one of the greatest Olympic hockey games ever played.

This game was the definition of a "fight for survival". Both teams put on a great fight but USA most definitely showed us that we have a team to believe in. Even though the game went into an intense overtime that resulted into the gold-medal win by Canada this was an amazing moment in hockey history.
