Four leaders of the Federation of Students have failed to board a flight to Beijing where they had planned to hold talks with mainland leaders over political reform.
They had been scheduled to take off at about 5pm, but the four, including the Federation's Secretary-General Alex Chow, were told that their Home Return Permits had been cancelled.
They had hoped to seek talks with Premier Li Keqiang, or members of the National People's Congree Standing Committee.
Earlier today, the Chief Secretary, Carrie Lam, said there was no need for the students to make the trip.
She said the Central government had considered people's aspirations for political reform in Hong Kong before handing down its decision in August.
