A Planning Cycle for Integrating Digital Technology Into Literacy Instruction

A Planning Cycle for Integrating Digital Technology Into Literacy Instruction | NEWS HAPPENINGS AROUND THE WORLD | Scoop.it

The Technology Integration Planning Cycle is a guide to help teachers integrate digital technology into literacy instruction in meaningful ways that are consistent with the Common Core State Standards.

Via Nik Peachey
Pamela Hills's insight:

People do your research into 'COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS " From what I have read about it stand up and say know ! To me is like China, Former Soviet Union and what Hitler had incorporated in schools ! We need good old fashion education it can be high tech sure . But the art of teaching and exciting young minds to learn are being taken over by Government make no mistake it is the core beliefs they want taught and will punish a school and teacher if not implemented . I do not know which is worse "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" or this to make sure they all march in straight line ! <3

Robots in Education: What’s Here and What’s Coming

Robots in Education: What’s Here and What’s Coming | NEWS HAPPENINGS AROUND THE WORLD | Scoop.it
As with so many types of tech, how useful (and potentially harmful) robots can be to education will have more to do with how educators and students choose to use them than with the technology itself. We may not be on the cusp of having robot teachers like in the Jetsons, but robots have already made their mark in education and will continue to do so.

There is no doubt Robots are the wave of the future as they take over many jobs that humans once held !

How flipped learning works in (and out of) the classroom

How flipped learning works in (and out of) the classroom | NEWS HAPPENINGS AROUND THE WORLD | Scoop.it

Flipped learning is more than just having students do homework during the school day. It’s more than just putting the onus on students to teach themselves. In fact, it’s neither of those things. Don’t be fooled by simple explanations of flipped classrooms that simplify a highly complex undertaking.

Via Nik Peachey
Pamela Hills's insight:

Face Book is not just social media , expand your horizons  , you can talk to people all over the world and learn new language, how to cook something different. With Skype you can take tour and never leave your home. You can get real news as it is unfolding. The world became so much smaller .  There is a whole world out there  waiting for you .

Why Technology Will Never Fix Education

Why Technology Will Never Fix Education | NEWS HAPPENINGS AROUND THE WORLD | Scoop.it

The real obstacle is student motivation, and no gadget can create that.

Via Nik Peachey
Pamela Hills's insight:
If our past self could give students today any advise it is this. Learn all you can in school because you will be further ahead when you graduate. We live in a fast pace world a world so different from when we went to school. Be the dreamers. you are the future . The only one holding you back is you and being lazy only you can make the difference .
Dorothy Retha Cook's curator insight, August 23, 2015 9:01 AM

motivated in school not denied out and just simply not being allowed in!  yes the real obstacles dealt with not those that create more but look indifferentiated as better. I do recall a young man stating he had went to get some fast food while in the place the line went no where and he was thinking what was going on with that. It was funny to find that when it got to his turn the electronic cash register was broken and the cashier could not do the math of the purchases without it right. She had been through high school and all that but was allowed to use calculators instead of doing the math for herself, the new technology way but this young lady using her own abilities to count had a problem adding up dollar items and adding the proper taxes on then subtracting the amount of money she was given for the purchase and then giving back the right amount of  change. There was those that she was giving back more change than was given to pay and of coarse they said nothing but those she gave back less than she should have would yell and ask her how in the he-- she got the job she can count what 1plus1 is and all such. The thing he noticed when it got to be his turn the young lady didn't care anymore and just gave him what ever back but he corrected her told her it was ok and showed her a simple way to add and subtract and that was when she said she had been in school all that time and her calculator was how she learned bykeying the info in and when the cash register broke and she was on her own she just didn't know what to do but she thanked him for caring! enough to not ridicule but show her a way out because she already knew she didn't know how to  count but she didn't know what to do about It but he did. education is a great thing but what are the children learning because there may come a day when technology is not working "ipad" all such then how will the answers be obtained will they be able to maintain a life without technology.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, April 20, 12:52 PM
Humans, whether administrators, teachers, or parents, remain the key to improving school.
Laura Rodríguez Vanegas's curator insight, May 2, 9:43 PM
Technology is  just a resource, a tool for  teaching and learning. Technology is not the encharged of doing the teacher´s job.Teachers and learners should know how  to manage technology in order to see results in learning trought it . I agree with the text writer when he says that  technology craate social disparities. It is not only about innovation in learning trough technology. If  the technology is not available for all kinds of students progress in education will not increase.

Have you ever stood out side and seen them actually spray this. One day I was out feeding my animals and I saw for a fact a plane fly over my trees in  back yard and open up and leave 4 trails and then stop. This is not what we use to see years ago.  So many things are being done in USA  and there is no accountability for anything !
