Parks & Recreation, The Fund for Park Avenue Sculpture Committee, and Art Nouveau Gallery are pleased to announce a public art exhibition by distinguished Venezuelan-American artist Rafael Barrios on the Park Avenue Malls between 50th and 68th Streets. On view from March 5 through June 30, 2012, this ambitious exhibition includes nine boldly colored, visually intriguing steel sculptures. This exhibition opens concurrently with the The Armory Show, where Art Nouveau Gallery will showcase Barrios’ smaller-scale work.

The city Department of Records officially announced the debut of the photo database Tuesday. A previously unpublicized link to the images has been live for about two weeks.

Culled from the Municipal Archives collection of more than 2.2 million images going back to the mid-1800s, the photographs feature all manner of city oversight - from stately ports and bridges to grisly gangland killings.

I moved to Tribeca in July 2011 and I don’t know what took me so long. I moved from Midtown (Theater District, a.k.a. Tourist Central) where I lived for two years and a half. I loved it at first because I was in the middle of it all, but I had no neighborhood life and I had to fight my way through hordes of tourists every day. I’m from Montreal originally so my first language is French. Work brought me to New York, it was my dream to live here and I plan to stay for a very long time.

NEW YORK -- The director of one of France's most prestigious colleges has been found dead in a New York City hotel room.

New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne says employees at The Michelangelo hotel in Manhattan found the nude body of Richard Descoings (day-KWAHNG') on Tuesday afternoon.

Descoings served as the director of the Paris Institute of Political Studies. He was in his 50s.
