I volunteer at Literacy Network in Madison, WI. I am coordinating the computer lab which was set up last year in June. Literacy Network helps people learn the English language so we have many immigrants new to the U.S. from all over the world show up on our doorstep. Most people can barely speak English and most of them have never used a computer before. It is my mission to reinforce learning of the English language by using the computer as a tool. This way, they will be able to communicate with others through typing (another way to reinforce memory and understanding). I believe they could also share wikis and find new programs and games to help them learn new vocabulary. The clip below shows web 2.0 applications for foreign language learners.
