Have your folders in an easy-to-reach place, so when you are teaching a lesson that lends it's self to a Ven Diagram, you have them on hand! Non-Profit Organization to Advocate Standards-based Open Cloud Computing PORTLAND, Oregon -– (July 26, 2011) – Today the Open Cloud Initiative (OCI), a non-profit organization established to advocate open standards in cloud computing, announced its official launch at the OSCON 2011 Open Source Convention. Its purpose is to provide a legal framework within which the greater cloud computing community of users and providers can reach consensus on a set of requirements for Open Cloud, as described in the Open Cloud Principles (OCP) document, and then apply those requirements to cloud computing products and services, again by way of community consensus.
One of the presentations that I made this week was about having students create videos to demonstrate their knowledge of a topic. In that presentation one of the points that I stress is the need for students to create outlines of their videos before moving onto the technical aspects of constructing a video. Here are some tools for creating outlines and mind maps to plan video projects, podcasts, or essays.
QuickStarts are demonstrations that teachers and/or students can perform in a science classroom. Normally these activities are reasonably easy to put together and require 3-5 minutes to perform. The demonstrations can be used for many instructional purposes including the introduction of a new topic or concept, showing some scientific principle to students, providing an opportunity for students to make predictions based on their current knowledge, and illustrating some unexpected result for students.
