The “Scientists in the Classroom” initiative will leverage the innovative spirit and cutting edge science of the U.S. life science industry to advance life science education both at the national level and in local communities. The program aims to enlist at least 1,000 life scientists to inspire 250,000 students in high schools in all 50 states in the next five years. The initiative is a response from the life science industry to President Obama’s “Educate to Innovate” campaign to improve the performance of America’s students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
