Anca Toader's insight:
Beautiful project by photographer Rania Matar - she's been capturing girls around the world in the inner sanctum of their rooms. The result is a colorful, sometimes outrageous, yet respectful and intimate collection of portraits. Same sex marriage is legal in South Africa, however homophobia is "rampant, and a horrific wave of violence against black lesbians and transgender men continues".
This beautiful photography project has a very ambitious goal: "You can’t change the laws without changing the images,” says Zanele Muholi. “It is one thing to say we exist; it is another thing to show it."
