How Are People Really Using LinkedIn?

How Are People Really Using LinkedIn? | New Payment Methods | Scoop.it

Professional networking service LinkedIn blasted through the 100-million-user mark in March, making it even more powerful for finding a job, keeping up with colleagues and promoting your resume.

LinkedIn is growing so quickly, it's adding a new member each second. As the size of its network grows, LinkedIn is steadily getting more useful. But how are people really using the fast-growing service? Researchers at Lab 42 asked 500 LinkedIn users that question and many more, and came up with a variety of answers in this infographic.

Among the fun facts they uncovered: We found it interesting the way top level executives use the service in vastly different ways from entry-level workers. Let us know in the comments how you like to use LinkedIn, or if you don't use the service, why not?...

Fans are understandably anxious about how "Breaking Bad" will end (especially with creator Vince Gilligan admitting that he cried while writing it), but one Redditor asked whether the show ends the way Cranston wanted it to. "'Breaking Bad' ended the way Vince Gilligan wanted it to... which is exactly what I wanted," he responded.

This is a classic RFID appliction. For sometime now, hotel room key cards are contactless / RFID, this is also the same application of technology used in smart buildings and corporate ID Cards.

What was described in the article is not necessarily NFC but just plain RFID.  RFID has multiple scanner technology that varies in range. For over a decade RFID has been used in Warehouse applications wherein crates are tagged and long range directional scanners are used to conduct inventory/ or figure out what the crate contins by simply scanning the tag over a distance.

The discussion on bluetooth / NFC/ Bluetooth combination (could be possible but I doubt if it should be used the way it is described in the article. Blue tooth requires a different radio, Blue tooth excels in data streaming/ data connections, so for example I can stream audio over blue tooth with very little quality loss comparable to wired connection, moreover blue tooth  requires both sides to be powered up.  Unless massive data needs to flow between the wrist band and the pole/ Disney's systems, I just don't see how Blue tooth can be relevant.

If the only thing you need is to identify the person passing under you then a passive RFID tag in the band  and a long range RFID scanner in the pole will suffice. (PS, the passive RFID may have to be slightly powered to work as induction power transfer only works in close proximity (< 4 inches).
