Xenon-133 and caesium-137 releases into the atmosphere from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant: determination of the source term, atmospheric dispersion, and deposition

In this study, we estimated the total releases of the radioac- tive isotopes 133Xe and 137Cs as well as their temporal emis- sion patterns from the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant (FD-NPP) in March and April 2011. The es- timate is based on an inverse modeling method, using the transport model FLEXPART and a large number of avail- able concentration and deposition measurements in Japan, North America, Europe, and a few other locations. De- spite the significant uncertainties in simulations as well as measurements, the inversion method was able to produce

(UNSCEAR, 2000a). That value is exceeded by deposition from FD-NPP over large parts of Honshu Island and the west- ern Pacific Ocean. However, deposition of FD-NPP 137Cs emissions over other parts of Asia, North America and Eu- rope is minor compared to this pre-existing background.

To determine the deposition amounts in Japan and other regions, we combined our gridded accumulated deposition

Chernobyl compared to Fukushima... 80% of fukushima went over the pacific ocean to canada and usa. | Digital-News on Scoop.it today | Scoop.it

Chernobyl compared to Fukushima... 80% of fukushima went over the pacific ocean to canada and usa.

chernobyl 185 tons nuclear fuel, one rector with core material only. caped in 12 to 14 days sealed with metal sarcophagus a little under a year, contaminated 77,000 sq/miles and to this day has killed million people and 7 million people are effected but the worst wont be seen until 20 generations do

wn the line so Chernobyl hasn't even started doing it worst damage to humanity yet.

Fukushima 1700 plus tons nuclear fuel, 4 reactors explode 3 externally 1 internally (reactor 2 exploded in the turbine building so its been leaking to sea uncontrollably to this very day), 40 years spent fuel (spent fuel million times more toxic then core material ), MOX plutonium in rector 3 which was the biggest explosion (MOX plutonium is recycled spent fuel and is 2 million times more toxic the core material), These were ocean cooled rectors and will continue to forever pollute the sea until a technology is developed to deal with the melted nuclear lava.

air sampling showed people in Seattle usa breathed 5 to 10 hot particles a day in april 2011

FUKUSHIMA and the exploded melted down nuclear plants in japan are some of the biggest nuclear plants in the world and defiantly the biggest to ever go into full blown meltdown.
