How to Not Engage in Social Media Successfully
Business 2 Community
Sometimes it is lonely in social media—I know not quite social. One secret to understand is that only 1-2% of your audience will ever engage with you.
Tony Adams's curator insight, July 23, 11:10 PM

The observation that only 1-2% of your audience will engage with you on SM leads us towards two killer points:

1. We are social animals.  People use Social Media because they want to connect with other people.  They want to find content and engagement that resonates with them on a personal level.  They want to build relationships with brands, sources and other content consumers.

2. People will not engage if the content or experience is not personal, or if it doesn't resonate with them.

What does that mean?

We have a great opportunity to tap into our audience and build engagement from that 1-2% floor, through targeted, personal, active and meaningful engagement.  Remember that 98-99% of your audience are interested enough to seek your content but then choose to do nothing with it.  That's nuts.

Work on engaging with that huge chunk of your audience - understand them, customise the experience for them and focus on what value they are seeking.
