Open education, open research, and co-authoring our knowledge base: Here comes everybody

Open education, open research, and co-authoring our knowledge base: Here comes everybody | Digital-News on Scoop.it today | Scoop.it

"I should just come out and say it from the beginning. A paper about open education that is authored by a single person feels (not necessarily is) a little anachronistic to me. That is, the spirit of open education is collaborative, constructivist, connectivist (whichever approach or nomenclature) you prefer. It all depends on openness and connectivity and indeed that is where it draws its very strength. The rapid assembly and disassembly of affinity groups based on need, want, topic, what have you. This rapid assembly is made possible through openness and in turn promotes collaboration and some significant knowledge production. To then craft research and disseminate that research solely through the prism of one individual just feels a little out of that spirit of that openness." from the source: Michael Sean Gallagher http://michaelseangallagher.org/

NOTE: This article is a good synopsis of the process and outcomes of Michael's participation in a MOOC. He has done a very good job of demonstrating and validating the positive aspects of distance collaboration as well as MOOC infrastructure for open research and education.

Apple Opens Mouth Inserts Foot - New Ad Campaigns Stink [video] via AdRants

Apple Opens Mouth Inserts Foot - New Ad Campaigns Stink [video] via AdRants | Digital-News on Scoop.it today | Scoop.it
So everyone is piling on TBWA\Chiat\Day for two its most recent Apple commercials in which a Dell Dude-like character comes to the rescue of people in the midst of various computing nightmares.

...

Marty Note
Wow, if you and a small mercenary force from Redmond, WA set out to sink everything that makes Apple cool and unlike Windows you couldn't have done a better job than these amazingly BAD ads. A mistake SJ would have stopped. Also a statement about the fall of TWBA/Chiat/Day (a former favorite ad firm). Maybe that 4th sell out hurt. Agree with everything AdRants is ranting here.

Top Tech Trends & People of 2012 (Focus on New Media Communications)

Here is the textbook that I created/curated for teaching my New Media Technology class during the Spring semester of 2012 at Hannam University's Linton Global College. I took great effort to give credit where it is due. I aimed to show my students how they could access enough free info on the web that was of equal or greater value than the wonderful information found in expensive textbooks. Feel free to share and please support the true authors of this book in any way you can (money, likes, blog comments, links, etc.) I am simply the currator of this content.

If you would like a free tablet-friendly PDF file, just email me at kenmorrison30 @ yahoo.com (no spaces)

P.S. There are some typos and honest mistakes in this textbook, but I am comfortable sharing it as is. I am excited to redesign it for next semester.

This is a course created by fellow curator Ken Morrison.  It contains enough information on social media that everyone will find something of interest.  Thanks for sharing, Ken!
