Apparently it’s still easy to forget that, when you tweet, Twitter listens. It’s safe to say that fired IAC public relations executive Justine Sacco is having a rough Christmas. Her tin-eared tweet — “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!” — earned seemingly universal condemnation before her plane had even landed, even spawning a trending hashtag #HasJustineLandedYet. IAC, the Barry Diller-owned company that runs Web properties such as Match.com and the Daily Beast, swiftly fired Sacco, who has since issued her own apology.
