Ken Morrison's insight:
Google set the tone for the next 12 months at their I/O conference this week. It was not a surprise that they talked about Google+'s impact on social media. It was a bit of a surprise that they discussed educational opportunities for using Google+ in the classroom. Delete the scoop?

Ken's Key Takeaway: I have been dragging my feet with Google+. I have always seen value, but I was curious if my friends would join. My primary takeaway is a reminder of the value of not needing to be 'friends' to have one-way exchange of information.

A nice infographic about how to get your posts plenty of views and click-throughs. A good reminder that high traffic times also means more competition. Ken

Interesting article about the best time to post in Facebook and Twitter based on the amount of traffic it gets. It really is important to know that those times will be better to post for more attention and likes but as my professor said, you have to remind yourself that you will compete the most during the peak time. Google+ is getting flack for low average time on site numbers, but what do these truly symbolize? And do they really matter?
So with Google+’s new redesign and several articles that have appeared highlighting how Google+ is “dying,” maybe we should reflect on what Google+ is doing right, with perhaps the pundits looking at it through the wrong lens?
What if Google+ never needed to be Facebook, but rather exist as something more?
So you’re on Google+, and you think it’s a ghost town because your friends aren’t on it?
Well, what if I told you none of that mattered?
What if I told you, you could see what you really wanted to see; interact with what/who you really wanted to interact with; and group those interests and engagements into categories and subjects?
Well here’s five reasons how Google+ can make you forget that your friends aren’t here, while still being amazingly useful, interesting and engaging. It’s more than a social network.

Google+ isn’t only a social network. It’s the very backbone (and future) of Google itself. As Brian Clark wrote yesterday, authorship and the possible effects on the Google algorithm have the potential to be extremely beneficial to savvy content creators. If you’re a writer, this is either going to be very good for your career, or you’ll risk becoming relatively invisible online.
If you’d like to land solidly in the former camp of writers, the question becomes one of how to use Google+ to further your own goals. With that in mind, I’ve put together an infographic for you that outlines 64 strategies that every writer and content producer can put into action, and start reaping the rewards of intelligently engaging with Google+.... I need to explore Ripples. I also learned that if someone adds me to their circle, my content will show higher in their Google searches. Not Google+ searches, but all relavant Google Searches!!!!!

Infographic is a mess but the article info on G+ is excellent with lots of helpful tips. My fave: use recorded Hangouts to interview people in your field. They will be stored on YouTube and can function as informative posts.

I'm going to pay attention to this one, if only because Google seems to be corralling even my Blogger site into Google+. This is also why iGoogle is going away, I'm sure of it. Delete the scoop?

First, there was the internet. Then, social media came along. Now, the newest untamed frontier is ‘human media.’ That is to say, human media is a closer, more personal form of social media, but where people communicate face to face, as opposed to communicating through text. And more and more people and businesses are starting to realize just how big human media is and is going to be. What Is Human Media? Human media connects people more intimately than regular social media sites. Through platforms like Google+, and using tools like G+ Hangouts, people and businesses are able to defy geographic distances to talk face to face. The entire world is at your disposal, as you can join or watch Hangouts in an infinite number of topics. You can join or watch Hangouts that are cooking lessons, virtual knitting circles, financial advice, DIY projects, medical care, and so much more. If you can think of it, a G+ Hangout can be done on it.... Via Jeff Domansky Delete the scoop?

Ken Morrison's insight:
Ken's Key Takeaway: Facebook lost 3% in social logins this past quarter. Google earned 3%. This is the second quarter in a row with similar trends. Social logins are the third-party logins where you have the option of signing in locally or with your social network name/password. Currently, the rank is Facebook (46%), Google+ (34%) Yahoo (7%) and Twitter (6%), LInkedIN and everyone else 7%)
This is big because every login gives these giants even more data about us. Delete the scoop?

Ken's Key Takeaway: This is an interesting article about why a Facebook search would be a significant threat to Google. I'm not expecting a major upheaval, but I do think this will force Google to adapt. It should be interesting. Ken
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the social network is already handling a billion search queries per day, and that it is interested in launching a social search engine powered by the activity of its users — something that could turn out to be Google’s worst nightmare.
“Search engines are really evolving towards giving you a set of answers… like, I have a specific question, answer this question for me. And when you think about it from that perspective, Facebook is pretty uniquely positioned to answer a lot of the questions that people have. That’s one obvious thing that would be interesting for us to do in the future.”

From Louise Myers blog: "If you find Facebook confusing – welcome to Google Plus!
After being baffled by the G+ Cover Photo size requirements, which then get cropped, I decided my readers would appreciate a post on how to create a Google Plus Cover Photo.
And, I’m gonna tell you how you can repurpose a Facebook Cover Photo to G+.
This method will work as long as you can afford to sacrifice about 20% of the height of your FB Cover Photo. Yes — even though the G+ Cover Photo is SO skinny! Check this out…"
