A great 'experiment' to see if yoiu are any good at detecting false information.  This will take you 30 minutes to rethink documentaries for the rest of you life.  I think it is a good investment.

Ken Morrison's insight:

Ken't Key Takeaway:

This is an effective documentary about how easy it is to deceive people.  Many of the things were not new to me, but I loved the twist at the end.  Well Done!  I like how they used recent documentaries as the case studies.

You can find my past shares on this topic (SOPA filter) below.  I Simply call it all "SOPA" because each of the new names of bills are just family members of the orginal ugly bill:

I am so thankful that this did not happen.  I was nervous that they would be able to slip this in while most of the world was busy with holidays, final tests, making their 4th-quarter budgets, compalining about rising energy costs, etc.  Thankfully, enough people spoke up.

Are We Better Off Without the Fairness Doctrine? | Blog | Tavis Smiley | PBS | An Eye on New Media | Scoop.it
Ken Morrison's insight:

You can't understand new media without understanding 'somewhat old media'.  If you do not like television news today, it probably has a lot to do with the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine in the 1908's.  During that period, TV stations stopped thinking of news as a service and began moving the news department under the entertainment departments. The news was no longer a prerequisite for renewal of broadcast liscenses.  It became a tool to increase profits.  Thirty years later, we live with the results.

Ken Morrison's insight:

Ken's Key Takeaway:

I actually think it is a bad idea to remove politics from your livestream, but I think it is interesting that we now have a tool to do so.  I think it is important for us to be exposed to different views on politics.  If we are offended or not impressed, we can block one person, but I don't think it is wise to block all politics

Louise Robinson-Lay's comment, February 23, 8:47 PM
I agree with Ken. It is great that you can filter stuff out that you don't want but politics is part of everything and to ignore it completely leads to ignorance.
