I whole-heartedly agree with Seth Godin's message here. We do indeed get what we click on. When we choose to click on garbage, we give the creators of garbage the green light to create more garbage. We probably can't stop the mass from clicking on garbage, but we do need to find a way to reward the people who are creating good content.
FYI I'm not sure why Seth chose to use huge words to dilute his message.
Avarice: extreme greed for wealth or material gain.

schadenfreude: pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune.
