React - Great ads get a reaction
Relate - Great ads relate with the audence

Respond - Great ads get people to respond because the ad is designed with the call to action in mind from start through finish.

Ken's Key Takeaway:

Here a bold statement....of my 2000+ posts, this might be my most important.  I am happy with this slideshare find regarding digitatal citizenship, bullying, information overload and more.

66 quality slides.  If you have a child or work with teens, I stronlgy suggest using this as a conversation starter.

My key key takeaway is the image of a child with a tatoo.  Our digital activity is like a tatoo for all of us.  We can decide what type of tatoo we create, but we all get a tatoo!

I am sharing this slideshare for multiple reasons.  #1: Even if I didn't like the content, I would share it as an example of a beautiful presentation. #2 I do like the content. There are many important quotes and great points on the convergence of learning, culture and technology. I also like the interesting 'contents' slide that showed images instead of bullet points of what would be covered.  Thus, there was not one bullet point in the presentation.

Prezi Design Strategies

Can we apply concepts used in video production to Prezi design? Let's find out! In this Prezi I pull terms from Bruce Block's book The Visual Story: Seeing the Structure of Film, TV, and New Media. Let me know what you think.

Via Baiba Svenca
Ken Morrison's insight:

Honestly, I am always a bit hesitant when people ask me if I will show them how to use Prezi because I see it used incorrectly so often. Much of that frustration is due to too much zooming and poor placement of graphics and text. I feel that this is a good resource for helping us all become better designers of visual aids for presentations.

Linda Dougherty's curator insight, October 12, 2013 7:14 AM

Have started showing students during Google presentation tutorials how to outline their presentations like they always do with those bulleted lines on the slides.  Then take those sentences, change them into titles, and put one title on each slide. Select one image per slide. If needed, add URL links. Add the works cited for the image in tiny print at the bottom of the slide. Move those outlined bulleted points to the note section or toss into a document to print out for a group presenetation.

No more slides crowded with text and 4 images! No more students sleeping in the classroom while their classmates read from the Smartboard.

Susan Kay Daniels's curator insight, January 13, 6:30 AM

This is a PowerPoint presentation that would have sent my former employers into shock. They had no imagination whatsoever. However, Eugene Cheng clearly has wonderful artistic skills and knows how to present them. In addition, he clearly has a nice budget to work with. These kind of beautiful graphics don't come at low price. I thoroughly enjoyed glancing through this presentation and plan to use it as inspiration for future projects.

Warmly,

Susan Daniels

Edmodo provides a simple to set-up, easy to use virtual learning environment which is especially suited to smaller groups. It's a hosted service (unlike Moodle) and works quite well on mobile devices. If you're thinking of offering a blended learning package to your learners then it's a good place to start.
