If four Republican senators—say, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Ben Sasse, and Susan Collins—would agree to caucus with the Democrats under Chuck Schumer, the whole thing would grind to a halt until we could catch our breath and see if we really want to live in the madhouse of this president*'s mind for the next four years."

From New York Times - Sometimes I try to imagine what Trump’s Reichstag fire moment might be. In February 1933, a few weeks after Hitler became chancellor, fire engulfed the parliament in Berlin — an act of arson whose origin is still unclear. A recent New Yorker article by George Prochnik quoted the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig on Hitler’s savage reaction: “At one blow all of justice in Germany was smashed.” What will be America's Reichstag Fire?

Media Literacy: Five Ways Teachers Are Fighting Fake News

In an era of national attention to what's real and what isn't, we asked educators to share their strategies for helping students sort out fact from fiction.
Paul's insight:

So important today to help students discern truth from fiction. The problem is there are so many adults to need to learn this too.  For example, lying and being a 'straight talker' are not the same thing.  More than ever, educators need to resist ignorance and teach students to use their mind and seek out the truth.

This idea of finding Trump within ourselves was also echoed last week by James S. Gordon, a psychiatrist as well as the founder and executive director of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine.

He wrote a comment piece in The Guardian, arguing that “Trump’s grand and vulgar self-absorption is inviting all of us to examine our own selfishness. His ignorance calls us to attend to our own blind spots. The fears that he stokes and the isolation he promotes goad us to be braver, more generous.”
