A Good Way to Change a Corporate Culture

A Good Way to Change a Corporate Culture | New Leadership | Scoop.it

All business owners know that it is much easier to talk about changing the culture of a business, than it is to effectively bring about any meaningful change, in a well established culture.

Anyone who has succeeded in effecting a change in the culture that previously prevailed in their business, will tell you it took a lot longer than expected, and the disruption to the business was greater than expected.

This excellent article, acknowledges the difficulties of effecting lasting change in the culture of any business, and it suggests an easier way that can be adopted to effect immediate change that can be built on as the initial change suggested takes effect.

How LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter Have Changed the ROI of Leadership - Forbes

How LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter Have Changed the ROI of Leadership - Forbes | New Leadership | Scoop.it

"Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter have changed the ROI on leadership and it’s your responsibility to get in the game."

Excerpts:

As a former C-level exec, I was skeptical myself, but now I’m a believer. Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter have changed the ROI on leadership and it’s your responsibility to get in the game.

About a year ago, the head of marketing for a healthcare company told me, “our leaders are not paid to write and express their POV outside their immediate roles & responsibilities. Besides, many of them don’t write well and would tarnish their image if they tried.”

I responded  ...many of your smaller competitors have invested in activating the voices of their senior executives by training them how to blog and also how to utilize social media to expand their reach and influence.”

This prediction recently became a reality and not only has the head of marketing been fired, but the company has had to hire new talent that understands how to implement the power of social media.

Leadership is Healthy

Leadership is Healthy | New Leadership | Scoop.it

Leadership is healthy.

Your true leadership grows out of recognizing and appreciating your true self. Leadership is not about being someone else; leadership is about being who you are.

The health of your leadership reflects your own health.

There is nothing inherently stressful about leadership. There are very effective leaders who do not suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other stress-related issues. There are very good leaders who regularly take time to reflect and to listen. There are leaders whose leadership benefits not only their organizations, but also themselves.

Leadership is more than just making good decisions about the bottom line, or setting the right course for the future.

Leadership is about using what you have to its best advantage in the long run.
