Dice Shirky: "Imparare a usare i social media per trovare notizie e fonti. Dapprima sono stati arruolati come strumento di promozione, ma uno strumento che permette accesso diretto al pubblico è anche uno strumento giornalistico. Gli esempi grandi e piccoli, come le foto di un aereo che è atterrato sul fiume Hudson o le analisi delle spese dei parlamentari affidate dal Guardian ai lettori, si basano su una relazione più fluida tra redazioni e mondo esterno. Frequentate le conversazioni su Facebook e sfogliate le foto su Instagram in cerca di idee; capite come formulare una rispettosa richiesta di aiuto su Twitter o WeChat per trovare fonti importanti o eserciti di volontari".
