8.) The first step on the road to recovery is an in depth evaluation by the therapist. A lot of detailed questions about how the injury happened and how much pain it is causing. Sometimes this is followed by a range of motion test to find a starting point. The evaluation prior to the treatment is extremely important as it helps therapists find the root of the injury, stopping the pain for a long time instead of temporarily.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, April 1, 2014 1:20 PM
9.) When going to receive treatment, a therapist will use the evaluation to find decide what type of treatment will be most effective. There are several types of treatment. Some of the many examples are: manual therapy, ice, heat, ultrasound, low-laser, traction, electrical stimulation, and exercise. They all help different kinds of pain and injuries.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, April 1, 2014 1:30 PM
10.) Manual therapy is best for any injury. Ice is best for injuries that involve swelling and inflammation, because it reduces it. Heat is best for injuries involving muscular spasms and tightness. Ultrasound is best for injuries involving connective tissues. Low-laser is best for muscular or connective tissue. Traction is best for disc herniation. Electrical stimulation is best for restoring muscular strength. Exercise is helpful to stay healthy after any injury or to stay in shape.

2.) There are many techniques used in therapy. Some of them are hands-on manual therapies – soft-tissue mobilization, ASTYM (augmented soft tissue mobilization), primal reflex release technique, visceral mobilization and craniosacral therapy – with traditional modalities, ultrasound, electric stimulation, aquatic therapy and therapeutic exercise. Therapy focuses on many injuries such as low back and neck pain, sacroiliac (SI) joint pain, shoulder pain and injuries, rotator cuff tears, hip and knee pain (including postops and joint replacements), foot pain, plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia and neuromuscular pain, sprains and strains. That is some of, but not all of the treated injuries.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, March 26, 2014 1:25 PM
3.) Of the many types of new techniques aquatic therapy is a new up and coming one. There is a pool heated to 96 degrees on average. Being in a pool helps take weight off the persons legs. Therefore, this is helpful to patients with arthritis, hip and knee replacements, and many other conditions.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, March 26, 2014 1:32 PM
4.) There are certain programs that are available to help patients that cannot work while injured. A few are as follows: Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), Work Conditioning Programs , Comp Cost Solutions, and Employer/Physician Service Guarantee. This allows the patient to return to work as soon as possible. Also, while out of work it provides compensation so the patient still has a source of income.

1.) This new technique of tape has a neurological and inter circulatory system of the body. It helps heal muscles, tendons, bones, and organs. It does this by stimulating the self healing process. This eliminates the symptoms and allows the body to return to full function.

5.) The OptoJump is one of the new pieces of equipment a this facility. It records information for therapists to analyze. It records contact time, flight time, reaction time, power, energy expanded, step length, exact and average acceleration, exact and average speed, stride angle, imbalance index, and treading mode (heel or toe). This information helps the rehabilitation process and correct incorrect form

6.) The Anti_Gravity Treadmill allows patients to run at sixty percent of their body weight. This lessens the amount of pressure being put on one's joints. The design allows therapists to monitor the patients' gait patterns while exercising. This piece of equipment helps with arthritis, tendinitis/tendonosis, prevents falling, fractures, joint replacements, arthroscopic surgeries, sprains, strains, ACLs, meniscus, total knee, total hip, and bunionectomy. This is very helpful.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, March 5, 2014 12:50 PM
7.) Another new device at this site is the kinesis wall. This device is good for shoulder rehab. It is also easy to change the difficulty of the exercise depending on what a patient can handle. In addition to shoulder rehab, this helps with fall prevention, balance therapy, and lower extremity exercises. This targets a wide range of patients including: obesity, athletic, strentgh, endurance, fall prevention, balance, recovering from surgery, functional training, and wellness patients.

6.) When most injuries occur they are accompanied by inflammation,or swelling. Usually the swelling causes damage. The scar tissue causes ongoing pain. The Mettler Release Technique (MRT) helps restructure and release the scar tissue without causing further injury. It does this at a fast pace causing the least amount of pain for the leas amount of time.

5.) Physical therapy is more important to the long term benefits of joint replacements. It allows the patient to reach maximum mobility, but at a respectable speed. It does not rush the process. Using the latest therapy techniques helps a patient reach full potential in the minimum amount of time.

1.) New equipment enhances the capability to evaluate and treat certain kinds of injuries. The new equipment that this specific site received treats ankles, feet, knees and hips. The machine is known as the "AlterG Antigravity Treadmill" This device makes it feel like up to eighty percent of the person's body weight is gone, making it easier to move allowing the patient to heal and gain strength quicker.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, March 4, 2014 12:41 PM
2.) They also received two other helpful pieces of machinery. The first one, The Gait Analysis System, uses sensors and cameras to provide information. The therapist then uses the previously recorded information to find form errors and where the impact load is on a patient's feet while running. They then come up with ways to improve a person's technique.

4.) There are several types of equipment used in therapy. The rehabilitation process depends on both hot and cold equipment. Wax, ice, bathtubs, and air cleaners are a few of the many important pieces of equipment to the process. They both are a huge help, it just depends on the injury to decide what treatment a patient will receive.

8.) Surgery, athletics, and aging lead to physical therapy. The power tables allow the therapist to move the patient up and down. This allows the patient to be at a comfortable height so that the therapist can do his job with ease. There's also different widths of tables so that bigger patients can use bigger tables, and allow more space for certain treatments that require more space.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, March 5, 2014 1:13 PM
9.) Equipment is made to last, but also is made based on the therapist and patient. The staircases use steel upright and rails to help patients move up and down the stairs with confidence. There are also two no slip grips that ensure the patient that they won't slip. The grips are placed apart making the covered range bigger giving less room to slip.
Tori Yurcisin's comment, March 5, 2014 1:19 PM
10.) All of the equipment is durable and made to last, but it also takes the concerns of the patient and therapist into consideration. Most devices are able to be adjusted to a desired height, making it easy to work with patients of all heights and sizes. Also, there are certain pieces of equipment for all kinds of injuries. Some are specifically made to enhance range of motion while others are simply used to gain strength and stability.
