Stephen Dale's curator insight, August 7, 2013 7:36 AM

I thought this was a great illustration of how learning and the application of knowledge is evolving - as it must - to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex and rapidly changing social ecosystem. The key point here is how we must take control of our learning, and the increasing opportunities to do so. Personalisation is fundamental to the future of learning, and learning has to be a life-long activity in order to ensure knowledge adapts to change. All of this is at the heart of "Personal Knowledge Management'. #pkm

A glimpse into the Future of Learning #hpi13

German Bustos's comment, September 6, 2013 5:43 PM
Is there no need for a common minimum? It looks great the idea of a personal "playlist" of education topics, but if education should not give you something in common with the people you leave with, how can we built a common thing a "res publicas". Which are the boundaries or restriction of a total customized education? Every one will have the same liberty? even little kids? Even poor people? Even people with disabilities who need help to learn?

The 5 Important Elements of The 21st Century Classroom Infographic ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

The 5 Important Elements of The 21st Century Classroom Infographic ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | new approaches to teaching | Scoop.it

"The pace with which technology is developing makes it really impossible for anyone to predict what kind of classrooms we will have in the next few decades. What is apparent, however, is the fact that new ways of learning are mushrooming here and there as a direct impact of the embrace of this technology in education. Mobile learning, blended learning, flipped classroom, to mention but a few, are some immediate examples that come to the surface when talking about this interactional relationship between the digital and the educational.

This excellent graphic below sheds more light on how classrooms have been transformed by technology and draws clear comparisons between several learning modes. I invite you to have a look and share with us your thoughts about it. Enjoy"

Infrastructure and proper training for teachers are essentials to make this work. Often teachers are not given enough time to learn about the new technology, which makes them negative towards the change. Management must see the pedagogical benefits of technology in the classroom, not as a money saving exercise!

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, July 3, 2013 1:13 PM

We should not predict the classrooms of the future. What we need to do is help children learn the skills to be in those classrooms and workplaces which are turbulent and uncertain.

5 Flipped Classroom Issues (And Solutions) For Teachers - Edudemic

5 Flipped Classroom Issues (And Solutions) For Teachers - Edudemic | new approaches to teaching | Scoop.it

by Beth Holland

"Have you been thinking about flipping your classroom this fall? Flipping can let you make the most of face-to-face time with your students. Rather than taking class time to introduce content and using homework to review concepts, flip the process so that students gain basic knowledge at home and then create, collaborate, and make connections in school.

"Creating video used to be out of reach for most teachers. It was expensive and required skills that could take years to master. Fortunately, it is easier and faster than ever to create videos for your students, especially with iPad. It also plays a big part in flipping your class, as it provides students with multimodal access to content and the ability to progress at their own pace. By giving students the opportunity to view and playback lessons via video, you free up class time for more cognitively difficult tasks. At EdTechTeacher, we have worked with many educators on flipping their classes and have noticed some common issues that often thwart their initial forays."

Flipped Learning Explained Visually

Flipped Learning Explained Visually | new approaches to teaching | Scoop.it

Does flipped learning mark a transformational change in the way instruction is delivered or is it just a mere replacement of teacher with digital media? This is one of the questions that has created  a lot of controversy among educators. I have read several articles on this topic and have found a huge abyss between how teachers view it. However, flipped learning or not, the use of technology in education should be elevated to the rank of " integration" and so instead of speaking of using technology in teaching which is but doing the same things via the medium of technology, we rather talk about technology integration which is more structured and systematic. If you want to learn more about this difference I would refer you to this article: Using Technology Vs Technology Integration.
