Train Your Brain to Be Optimistic

Train Your Brain to Be Optimistic | New Age Leadership | Scoop.it
Optimism isn't always automatic. Sometimes you must create it for yourself.
David Ednie's insight:

Train your brain to deliver the mindset you need to succeed on life's journey toward the realisation of your goals. Would you take your hands off the wheel when you are driving on the freeway?

John Michel's curator insight, February 27, 4:32 AM

Many people struggle to stay optimistic, especially in the workplace. After all, there are many reasons to be pessimistic: a difficult economy, global competition, a business ethos that seems to reward criminals and penalize truth-tellers. Nevertheless, your ability to succeed depends heavily on your ability to remain optimistic.  I'm not talking about seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. I'm talking about trusting your ability to cope, regardless of what life throws at you.

How to Create a Captivating Presentation

How to Create a Captivating Presentation | New Age Leadership | Scoop.it
Terrified of presenting in front of an audience? Or just a little shy? How to take your public speaking ability and slide presentations from uncomfortable to awesome.
David Ednie's insight:

This is all you need for a truly great presentation:

> One big idea

> Three key points

> One compelling story

> One idea per slide (and no more than six words)

> One clear call to action

John Michel's curator insight, May 19, 12:08 AM

Don’t think about “presenting your work,” as if the creative part were limited to the work and the presentation were tacked on afterwards. Apply the same level of imagination and passion to your presentations as you do the rest of your creative work. Once you do that, you’ll start discovering all kinds of interesting ways to get your message across in a persuasive fashion.

Why Simple is Getting Harder

Why Simple is Getting Harder | New Age Leadership | Scoop.it
It's easy to put together the front end of a website and mock up the back end. That's bad for anyone building a serious business that solves tough problems.
David Ednie's insight:

The challenge is and will always be balancing a long term focus with short-term objectives and deliverables. The problem is that it’s really hard to keep your head in the long game when everyone around you is building pretend prototypes and then immediately selling them to an investor marketplace that has so much cash to throw around that they’re playing their own game of spray and pray.
