Just because some religions have used meditation practices does not make them inherently a violation of separation of church and state -- or an offense to other religions.  People sit in chairs in churches, too, and that's not thereby outlawed in schools!

Dr Rajshekher's insight:

A recent (2013) review published in the American Academy of Neurology journal Neurology reviews the existing literature on structural brain changes in patients with long - standing Migraine, and finds that those who have Migraine with Aura tend to have significantly higher incidence of White Matter Abnormalities and Infarct - Like Lesions; but what is the clinical and functional significance of these lesions? What is the relationship of these lesions to headache frequency and disease duration? How does treatment modify these lesions? These and other burning questions are addressed in this article.....

Night Owls and Early Risers Have Different Brain Structures

Night Owls and Early Risers Have Different Brain Structures | Nerve Health | Scoop.it
Sleep and wake times are strongly influenced by genetics.
Dr Rajshekher's insight:

Are you a morning lark or a night owl? New research is beginning to show that night-owls are more prone to depression and white matter lesions (something euphemistically labelled as 'decreased white matter integrity'); but they are also identified as people who are more productive, with greater analytical ability, have more stamina throughout the day, have greater reasoning abilities, and so on. I don't know: with recent demands of business and work in my life, I have changed from a morning lark to a night lark/owl! Do you want to know what role genetics plays in this? Do you want to know how to override the infulence of genetics on our sleep pattern and on our circadian rhythms? Then this article is definitely for you!!

Excessive Thinking Worsens Performance | Nerve Health | Scoop.it
How many times has your spouse told you to stop thinking too much? Do your parents nag you for worrying too much? Do you perform poorly in an exam because you get "psyched out"?
Dr Rajshekher's insight:

Here's a mind-blowing quote - @Opportunity is like ice - if you think too much about it, it will melt away! This study really proves this point - when players, athletes, lab scientists, doctors, lawyers - whoever - spend too much time thinking, they end up underperforming. So there is that RIGHT MOMENT when you MUST ACT! Don't DELAY! Thinking too much has been proven scientifically to worsen performance!

About Swiss eLearning Institute

The adage ‘time is money’ is truer than ever in our modern world. With the fast-paced lifestyle that is the hallmark of busy people these days, there is precious little time left to fit in the things we would like to do, especially with regards to education and the enhancement of personal knowledge. Traditional education courses require a commitment in time and resources that many of us don’t have – not only do you have to go to class at a fixed time and place, there is also the need to consider travelling times too. All of this represents a large frame of time just for attending class, never mind the time you need for studying!

Lateral Thinking to Generate New Idesa

The Onlilne Nerve Health Forum

Dr Rajshekher's insight:

Edward de Bono is a pioneer of many new Thinking Techniques; the method called PO - Provocation - was created by him. In PO, you start with something which is obviously illogical. The idea is not to ridicule it, but to let your mind be thrown into an alternate way of thinking, which could bring you to the solution of a problem which was not being reached using logical methods. Read his books to understand exactly how this works. He is world - renowned for having changed strategies for companies and countries equally! This short article was based on one of his books - How To Have a Beautiful Mind - and basically is an exercise that he asks the reader to perform. I love it, and am sure you will, too!

Attitude - What's Yours?

http://www.doctornerves.com

Dr Rajshekher's insight:

We all live with this big albatross on our backs - the handicap - even without calling it that - and this gives us an avenue of escape from our own failures. Example: I am not well-connected; I never had the money; I never went to a good school; That guy has so much luck, I am just plain unlucky. We tie ourselves up with these 'handicaps' and then walk around, begging for sympathy, for understanding. And people around us dole out sympathy and understanding in bushels, because that does not cost them money! But only when we see somebody who had an even greater challenge, a REAL handicap, that we feel shame for our own attitude. Watch this video, it's really deadly in its impact!

Dr Rajshekher's insight:

Dizziness is THE most popular complaint - though headache is commoner; I think most people add this complaint to their list just to tickle your sympathy nerve - you then go, 'Oh, you poor dear! Epilepsy

Dr Rajshekher's insight:

EPILEPSY MYTH: Epilepsy affects intelligence

TRUTH: People with epilepsy on average have the same level of intelligence as those without epilepsy. Learning can be made more difficult if seizures are frequent, or if medication has very pronounced side effects, such as causing drowsiness and excessive fatigue. However, epilepsy typically does not cause lower intelligence. In fact, some very talented and brilliant people have epilepsy, including some pretty influential historical figures such as Sir Isaac Newton, Vincent Van Gogh, Ludwig van Beethoven, Agatha Christie and Napoleon.

Dr Rajshekher's insight:

Direct Selling and Network Marketing stands at the same crossroads that Franchisee was 3 - 4 decades ago; it is undergoing the same scrutiny, the same scorn is heaped on it. Yet, the coming decade will see the steepest growth for this industry; like any other, the growth will stabilize after that. Those hitching on to the bandwagon now will reap the harvest; those hesitating will only follow the tail. But in another decade, Network Marketing will be as fashionable as Franchisee is today.

Does having Fits mean you have Epilepsy?

There are different kinds of FITS; EPILEPTIC fits are because of an ABNORMAL electrical current arising from some part of the brain.
Dr Rajshekher's insight:

A lot of miscnceptions surround this entity - especially, confusing it with things like 'becoming unconscious', 'passing out', and having an epileptic fit. It can be disturbing and cause a fright to people around, especially if it's a parent! What should you do if you see someone passing out, and you think they could be having an epileptic fit? A lot of people say, I just panic, or I try shaking the person to wakefulness; some people look around for a shoe to put under the victim's nose [sic!] or a bunch of keys to be put in the palm! Dr Rajshekher's insight:

Is money the strongest motivating factor? Most people would say no; yet money is the fuel which motivates us to hold on to jobs and bosses they hate. That means most of us, continue working our jobs for a reason which is not a passion - it's a necessity. Which is why we resent our jobs and our bosses, even if we deny it to ourselves!
