"The Captive Column is an invention that could revolutionize the construction industry. It can be used to make just about anything: Airplanes, Bridges -- you name it."
I have come across this before and want to link it here to keep track.
The captive column is an invention that allows the fabrication of ultra-light yet incredibly strong structural members, to be used in anything from bridges to airplanes, from cars to whatever you might think of.
The technology is open source, since the patent expired in the 1980s. The inventor, who obviously never was able to "sell" his idea to someone who would put it into production, got someone to make a website for him.
