To woo fans, NBA ups its stat game

To woo fans, NBA ups its stat game | NBA Basketball | Scoop.it
The NBA unveiled a new statistics and video page so detailed that it will only interest hardcore fans. So, why invest in such flashy tech? Because it's the future.

Via Thomas Faltin
Jake Botelho's insight:

Even though the NBA is at the top, they are still making new ways for the fans to easily get the stats and information they want. This new system gives you every stat of the game, and videos to go with them. For instance, if you wanted to see each and every one of Lebrons points and how he got them, all you would have to do is go to NBA.com/stats and its all right there for you. This is a wonderful system for any fan and it only supports the NBA's excellence.

It shouldn't be to anyone's surprise that this 6-10 forward, despite having never been ranked in SLAMonline's Top 50, stands today among the top-14 players in the League. You'll be hard-pressed to find someone his size with ...

Jake Botelho's insight:

A very quiet college basketball player seems to find his forte in the NBA. Known for his extremely high flying dunks Blake Griffin may be the most exciting player in the NBA. scoring close to 20 points per game them duo between him and chris paul is undoubtely the best in the NBA and he is a wonderful asset to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Andrew Wiggins Isn't the New LeBron James (Yet)

Andrew Wiggins Isn't the New LeBron James (Yet) | NBA Basketball | Scoop.it
AP / Nam Y. Huh; Bill Haber Andrew Wiggins, the University of Kansas’s freshman small forward, may be the most ballyhooed young basketball player since LeBron James.

Via Thomas Faltin
Jake Botelho's insight:

The highest rated player since LeBron James seems to be letting everybody, including himself down. Playing for the University of Kansas, Andrew Wiggins was an amazing performer in High School. Its no question that he would be in the NBA right now if it wasnt for the new ruling, making it impossible to go into the NBA from High School. Sadly, he doesnt even seem to be showing superstar potential at the college level, nevermind the NBA. Hes got a long road ahead of him and being compared to LeBron is a big milestone that will be hard to complete.

Cambridge once again is going over the top with this one. If this is proven succesful, basketball and other sports could change forever. The company is working on a collection of technologies that can be used to analyze your performance in a particular sport and provide data, tips and coaching to help you fully realize your physical potential. This technology has the ability to tell you what aspect of your shot needs to be fixed, whether its power, spin, arc or aim.

Jake Botelho's insight:

After losing 2 faces of the franchise it seemed hat everybody lost hope for the Boston Celtics, but we forgot about one player. Jordan Crawford. He is no superstar but he is a very strong performer with close to 15 ppg he's been bringing the hope back to Boston. he was never a very strong player but who knows maybe all Jordan needed was to be the superstar of the team, either way im happy to have him here.

Jake Botelho's insight:

Its amazing how far the NBA has come. Its mindblowing to think that dunking was never allowed and there was no 3-point line. Personally i feel that the addition of both of those opened the NBA to a whole new level of competiton.  The level of athleticism has increased drastically from the 60's until now. Now there isnt one player in the league who cant dunk. The Nba has come a long way from when it started and in my opinion, they successfully did it.

Rose: Verticle Leap Has Increased 5 Inches

Rose: Verticle Leap Has Increased 5 Inches | NBA Basketball | Scoop.it

"Derrick Rose has his head in the clouds. This isn't to say he can't concentrate, is irresponsible or is trying to make it rain meatballs. He's just able to jump really, really high. Always has been.

But just as Ricky Bobby wanted to go faster, Rose wanted to jump higher. So he did.Coming out of Memphis, he registered a "no-step" vertical of 34.5 inches and a max vertical of 40 inches. Prior to his ACL injury, he was soaring about 37 inches off the ground. Post-injury, he says he's at 42 inches, per ESPN Chicago's Nick Friedell, much to the dismay of opposing defenses everywhere."

Jake Botelho's insight:

This only supports why Derrick Rose is my favorite player. Even after a heartbreaking injury, he comes back even stronger. Most NBA players who have gottent he same injury never play the same but D Rose is different, his heart and love for the game is too strong to let an injury bring him down. If a torn ACL doestn slow D Rose down, will anything?

Rodman hopes game with ex-NBA players thaws relations between U.S. and North Korea

Rodman hopes game with ex-NBA players thaws relations between U.S. and North Korea | NBA Basketball | Scoop.it

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman said Thursday he is hoping a basketball game he is organizing in North Korea could “engage” the American people and President Barack Obama.

Via Iam Legion
Jake Botelho's insight:

Dennis Rodman once again shows us how crazy of a man he really is. I understand that he may have good intentions with this but i think he needs to realize what hes doing. America has gotten multiple military threats from North Korea and they even have one of our Americans being held in prison. Clearly he does not care about other peoples safety and Americas dignity, by bringing these ex- NBA players he is ultimately puting there life at risk whether he wants to or not.

Stephen Curry [Infographic] | NBA Basketball | Scoop.it
The infographic created by Inspirational Basketball highlights Stephen Curry’s luxurious NBA career. Stephen Curry is one of the most skilled point/shooting guards in the NBA. Have you ever wondered how Curry has progressed through his career?

Via Thomas Faltin
Jake Botelho's insight:

This just goes to show that stats dont lie and its no wonder why Stephen Curry is a powerhouse on the court. He was an all around excellent player in highschool, college and now hes bringing his talent to the NBA. Stephen is a versatile scorer who can beat you from the three or easily get around you for an easy layup.
