Quote ~ Brugh Joy

Life itself teaches dramatically and powerfully through events centered around crisis, loss, and death. When such events are not embraced-when the dark, the demonic, and the destructive are not integrated-the conscious ...

The Wholeness of our Being

The Wholeness of our Being | Navya | Scoop.it

Photo from Conference in Manhattan Beach, CA

“It is redeemed [fill in your name] by catching the overview of your life and how such a sacrifice unfolds into further development. What has to be grieved is the giving up on what wasn't to be and appreciating what is and will be. An understanding of the parts of Self...the various stages and the temporal/eternal mysteries give us the unique experience our life reflects. Breaking spells, recognizing patterns, and appreciating developing resources, gifts, and graces bring us into the wholeness of our Being. We are simply what we are....nothing more...and certainly nothing less.”….Brugh Joy

THE EXPRESSION OF ANGER

THE EXPRESSION OF ANGER | Navya | Scoop.it

"It is known that the ruling archetype of the Ego is the Thief. The Thief who must steal power from the Gods and Goddesses to compensate for fundamental inadequacy. The drive to power and the appropriation of power through concepts, abstractions, thought forms, and personal identification with Transpersonal power all serve to protect the young Ego/Shadow unfoldment until the greater is ready to flow into the lesser or as Carl Jung would say…the
Ego/Shadow are ready to subordinate consciously to the Self.

To steal the ultimately destructive power of fire expressed through uncontrolled anger and rage to conceal personally disruptive powerlessness then is to be understood as a natural development in the first half of life when the individual is faced with socialization, conditioning, family and cultural biases and preferences. Power holds the self together until contact with the Self unfolds"  W.Brugh Joy, MD

Control and Spiritual People

Control and Spiritual People | Navya | Scoop.it

“Spiritual people can be some of the most violent people you will ever meet. Mostly, they are violent to themselves. They violently try to control their minds, their emotions, and their bodies. They become upset with themselves and beat themselves up for not rising up to the conditioned mind’s idea of what it believes enlightenment to be. No one ever became free through such violence. Why is it that so few people are truly free? Because they try to conform to ideas, concepts, and beliefs in their heads. They try to concentrate their way to heaven. But freedom is about the natural state, the spontaneous and un-self-conscious expression of beingness. If you want to find it, see that the very idea of ‘a someone who is in control’ is a concept created by the mind. Take one step backward into the unknown.” ~Adyashanti

How to Perform the Heart Center Meditation

We want to express our appreciation to Dr. Ann Marie Chiasson for bringing this video to us.  We also want to honor W. Brugh Joy, M.D. for bringing forth the Heart Center Meditation over 30 + years ago.  It was at the very foundation of his work and he considered the Heart Center as the Acme of Human Spiritual Development.    A few years prior to his death he introduced a 5th attribute or emanation, Selfless Service, that is to say, the Self in Service to the Beloved.

Powerlessness, Shame,Unworthiness and Inadequacy

Powerlessness, Shame,Unworthiness and Inadequacy | Navya | Scoop.it

Photo via Ian Baker, quote is excerpted from a piece Brugh Joy wrote towards the end of his like.

"Always in surface ego vulnerability lurks its shadow...powerlessness, shame, unworthiness, and inadequacy. Until these are experienced...in the ego's emotional thought formed ash heap...and as the Self experiences Powerlessness, is there any deliverance from inflation, infantile power drives, and addiction. Confession becomes a compulsion...witness AA. The maya (thought forms) of the surface mind is endless in creative variations. Be still and witness what actually Is. When powerless is concealed by inflation into any power of any sort whether it be in events, relationships, actions, or Realizations, the cycle begins again until the ego finally suffers defeat into its own inadequacy and then surrenders the power drive to begin progress to Wholeness."...W.Brugh Joy, M.D.

I think the intent is confused by the wording at the beginning of the quote. It would be clearer as "Vulnerability always lurks in the shadow of the surface ego . . . "

WOUNDING AND VICTIMIZATION

WOUNDING AND VICTIMIZATION | Navya | Scoop.it

"Behind all wounding and victimization are Divinity and Its process of Soul Unfoldment. The critical masculine - charged in your unconscious compels the outer masculine (in any form) to speak to you your worst fears forcing an encounter with your vulnerabilities, inadequacies, and powerlessness. The critical masculine comes to free the Soul from such defenses as denial, anger and rage, and negotiating schemes by forcing the individual to carry suchness consciously and opening to the very important consequences of acceptance.

When overly bonded to any Face of Divinity - the Demonic side appears to force the separation.

The Child is wounded - the Initiate is liberated.

What wounds us initially - heals us at the end of the Alchemical Process"....W.Brugh Joy, MD

Transcending the Opposites - Brugh Joy

Transcending the Opposites - Brugh Joy | Navya | Scoop.it

"You can always tell when you have lost yourself with your bias and your preference.  When you start to react to what’s going on out there, you’ve lost clarity.  You’ve gone unconscious.  And so the heart center is this amazing gift that I have had the privilege of offering over the years.  I feel it can give one a state of consciousness that brings forth, not paralysis that I feel is where a lot of people go to when they go into the heart center. They start seeing both sides of something and they get conflicted, rather than recognizing that the heart center gives you a mystery of transcending the opposites to take action.  You are called to take action not out of your thinking process but at a much deeper layer"...Brugh Joy, MD

Who Makes Up These Rules?

Who Makes Up These Rules? | Navya | Scoop.it

"Who, on earth makes up these rules? It’s the blind leading the blind when it should be the Divine leading the Divine. Beneath such thinking lies control and self-deception. Perhaps the integration of our animal nature would relieve God/Goddess of shocking eruptions from time to time. We are Divinity in manifestation, already. How can we improve on that? The need to touch in on the spontaneous primordial forces for revitalization is so essential to protect us from our sterilized and sanitized minds. Without contact with the untransformed there would be no hope for humanity’s escape from the tyranny of rationality. The War, the intoxicants, the inner city initiations, the compulsions, the outlaws, the riots, the deviants – all an essential part of a much larger dance called Life" W. Brugh Joy, MD

ENLARGING AND UNDERSTANDING | Navya | Scoop.it

"If we are to appreciate the inner dynamics we don't need to change them or judge them. There is wisdom in each of the dynamics observed. To determine what you think should happen is placing the ego in charge of the show. When the deep beingness seeks a change you will know it. Otherwise the wisdom is to put oneself in accord with the Mystery. This is hard for anyone with degrees of control issues. Therefore [FILL IN YOUR NAME] needs do nothing but witness what is actually happening through THEM. This work is not about fixing or controlling. “Forget about enlightenment.
Sit down wherever you are and listen to the wind that is singing in your veins.
Feel the love, the longing, and the fear in your bones.
Open your heart to who you are,
right now,
not who you would like to be.
Not the saint you’re striving to become.
But the being right here before you,
inside you, around you.
All of you is holy.
You’re already more and less than whatever you can know.
Breathe out, look in, let go.”

Without a proper vessel, none of the processes of of alchemy can be accomplished. There must be a container in order to differentiate the various substances from the massa confusa, of which Thomas Moore writes, "It takes a special frame of mind, a particular archetypal viewpoint...to enter the alchemical massa confusa..." The unconscious is this chaos, the prima materia of the Great Work. The need for a vessel begins the alchemical stage called separatio.

In psychological terms, we view the  proper container as ego. Building a sense of self identity strong enough to recieve the power of the transformative energies which dismember, dissolve and transform the self to become something entirely "other than its orignal form while retaining its unique blueprint.
