Hellebores Beginning to Show Their Colors

Wow! So we went from the 20's last week to a high today of 72°, with temps dropping tomorrow to the 30's by Friday. So glad I could be in the garden this afternoon! Look what I found?! Helleborus 'Phoenix' was opened!

Haven Brand | Manure Tea's insight:

I cut back the old, tattered foliage on all the hellebores so I could see the new buds and flowers more closely. Some are already opening, others are looking very ready--

Growing Peace Lilies / Indoor Containers | Fiskars

Growing Peace Lilies / Indoor Containers | Fiskars | Annie Haven | Haven Brand | Scoop.it
Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum x 'Clevelandii') are popular house plants with their showy flowers and glossy green leaves. Especially in winter, these indoor plants can really lift the spirits. Maybe it’s because peace lilies are one of the few foliage plants that bloom in the low light conditions found in most homes.
Haven Brand | Manure Tea's insight:

Although these slow-growing plants will survive low light, they grow better and bloom more in bright filtered light. Just remember: never put this plant in direct sunlight, or it could cause sunburn.

This is the story of my ugly little hen.

A hen so dull and boring we didn’t even bother to name her.

Her nose is really too big and her comb is really too small.

She’s so invisible the other chickens don’t even pick on her. They ignore her.

The little hen that almost doesn’t even exist.

Haven Brand | Manure Tea's insight:

Someone suggested we name her Cheez Whiz, since Cheez Whiz adds personality.  We were desperate.  So she was named.
