AN illegal immigrant who escaped before he could be deported caused an horrific crash on the M6 near Coventry that killed a 54-year-old dad.
Iqbal Balla Singh, came to the UK from India in 2000 but his application to stay here permanently was rejected.
But before he could be removed he absconded and wasn’t caught until the fatal crash on December 17 last year.
Singh, 39, of no fixed address, was driving a hire van on the northbound carriageway of the M6 near Corley Services when he fell asleep at the wheel and then swerved to avoid a car right in front of him.
He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the car in front of the one he swerved to avoid.
After the crash the car he hit clipped a concrete post and flipped onto its roof.
Occupants Malcolm Anderson, his wife Deborah and son Jason, 13, all of Stechford, Birmingham, were on the way back from a family wedding. The car behind, which Singh swerved to avoid, contained Mr Anderson’s three daughters.
Mr Anderson died at the scene from his injuries.
Paramedics attended the incident and treated occupants of all three vehicles involved.
Police also attended the scene where they found that Singh had given false details.
