A lot of celebrities never seems to age. Hundred of skincare products are promising us eternal youth and beauty. From creams containing stem cells to those claiming to repair damages DNA, companies are using science to entice customers. Nanotechnology is now revolutionize the cosmetics industry. For example silver nanoparticules, wich have antibacterial activity, are being incoporate into toothpastes and Shampoos as preservatives. But the most amazing are the gold nanoparticules. Those particules have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It could drive tissue regeneration, restore skin elasticity and reduce signs of stress and aging. Is it magic ? No it's science ! These proteins, known as collagen and elastin, are responsible for maintaining the structure and flexibility of skin. Skin cells regenerate less frequently with age, and collagen and elastin become less effective. And actually nanoparticules could stop this. They could penetrate feathrer on the skin and inactivate a gene implicated in cancer development and progression and the ageing of the skin and cells. These findings could pave the way for a new line of treatments for important disease such as melanoma, skin cancer. this is only the begining of the study, We could imagine more and more ...

What makes nanoparticules so useful is of course their tiny size which allow for manipulation of colour, solubility, strength, magnetic behavior, and electrical conductivity. While the using of nanoparticules is offering a large choice on the industrial production, the discussion of the potential effects of those particules on our body are not the priority of the scientists. However, some experiment on animals, showed that nanoparticles can cross the bloodbrain barrier, which protects the brain from toxins in the bloodstream. Inhaled nanoparticules can also harmed lungs. Nanoparticules are so small that it’s extremelly difficult for the lungs to remove them and they can lodge in the respiratory system indifinitely. there is also a risk of cancer if titanium dioxide nanoparticules go into the body. In fact nanoparticules are so small that’s extremely difficult to study their effect on the human body. Actually, there could have a potential risks, but that’s not a conlcusive evidence. Actually what is really scarring the population is that we don’t know if the nanoparticules are really safe or unsafe. The problem is that we're already putting them on our bodies and ingesting them as if they'd been throughly tested and proven safe. Now we could just ask us why we’ve just gone ahead and approved them for commercial use ?

Sun is important for beauty, it makes you mude and younger. But too much sun is dangerous. So sunscreen are made to protect people from the sun.  But actually it could increase the risk of cancer. Here is the problem. the nanoparticules ,more and more present on the sunscreen, could penetrate deeper on the skin cells. Because smaller the particules are, feathure the damages are made for the health.  Some people are more vulnerable. For example, young children and the outdoor workers are more sensible.  70 % of the sunscreen sold on the market contain nanoparticules and are also cheaper than the others. How can the people be able to make the right choice ?
