Turn Off the Lights is a browser extension that give you focus to the video you are watching. And it dark the rest of the page.

What a wonderful idea and very powerful in the classroom. This add-on available on Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Opera and in the Windows Store for Windows 8 dims your screen so that the video you are showing stands out. It's very much like the theater darkening at the beginning of the movie! It's an excellent tool, excellent for teaching, and 100% free! Try it out! It has been getting rave reviews and after one video with Turn Off The Light, you'll know why! Delete the scoop?

A huge collection of excellent high school resources for science in a Symbaloo Webmix!

I've put together a huge (and growing) collection of high school resources 4 science in a Symbaloo Webmix called HS Resources 4 Science. I then embedded it on our school website for students to access. You can do that, as well, by getting the embed code! Whenever I update, it will automatically update your webmix, as well. I'm becoming more and more excited about the resouces that are available to build a strong BYOT introduction experience when school starts. Again, the word purposeful begins to take shape as the main approach. You don't want to let students loose in a room full of computers without guidance and there is no difference here. I found a fantastic unzip tool for the iPad. It's free and it works like a charm. I used it and it was extremely easy to use and the results were fantastic. When you receive a zip file as an attachment, iZip is an option provided to you when you touch the attachment. It's easy, it's fast...and it connects with Dropbox, as well! I love this little boy - maybe it is his twinkling eyes or mischievous grin. Maybe it is because he is my daughter’s son and an extension of my own precious child. My heart breaks that I cannot cure Zak, to make things better, to ease the pain, to make his heart strong. So, I do what I can do which is to love Zak with all of my heart and to help ease the financial burdens that this life-saving heart transplant brings to his family. Mother’s Day is May 12th and my birthday is May 15th. I do not wish for flowers or dinner out. No perfume or candy. Instead, my wish is for Zak to get better.
