I've used screenr and screencast-o-matic, as well as Tech Smith's Jing at http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html (not listed)..this is good list to get you started recording whatever you do on your computer screen. Since I teach students and faculty about tech tools, I've also used snagit as well, to show someone how to create a blog on blogger, create a flickr id and add photos to a photostream, create a google doc/drive and share it with others..

We continue to use technology to reinforce 19th century teaching practice' | MyScoopIt | Scoop.it

why [has] technology, to date, had very little impact on improved learning outcomes? This could be because we continue to use technology to reinforce 19th century teaching practice to meet out-dated assessment models. Most of the world’s curriculum and assessment systems are based around fact recall rather than actually demonstrating that you have learned something and can deploy it within a problem-solving situation.

"Another Brick In The Wall" - Pink Flloyd

The Planetary Archives / San Francisco, California's curator insight, November 17, 2013 3:12 PM

Our  education system is nothing more than child-care with some

indoctrination thown in.

See/hear "The Wall" by Pink Floyd  (40+ years ago.)

Let the children play until they are old enough to decide what they are interested in learning. That's completely different than training them from Day 1 to "sit still, be quiet, and obey authority." Training a 5-year old to become a "worker" or 'Businessman"  is not education, but it may be child abuse.

Free Technology for Teachers: How to Introduce EduClipper to Teachers and Students

Since eduClipper launched back in May I have shared it in many of my workshops and presentations. I know that some people will be introducing it to their colleagues and students for the new school year too. If you plan to introduce eduClipper to your students or colleagues, Adam Bellow (founder of eduClipper) has put together a helpful set of slides for you to use. The slidedeck includes step-by-step directions for using eduClipper. The presentation also includes a slide to help you transition from "showing" to "coaching."

Via Beth Dichter

Beth Dichter's curator insight, March 22, 2013 11:06 PM

Gerstein provides an interesting look at where education is and where education is going. She provides a look at research that shows that schools are "living within and functioning through an Education 1.0 model." She quotes an article that states "Essentialists argue that classrooms should be teacher-oriented. The teachers or administrators decide what is most important for the students to learn with little regard to the student interests. The teachers also focus on achievement test scores as a means of evaluating progress."

So what defines Education 2.0? "Education 2.0 includes more interaction between the teacher and student; student to student; and student to content/expert."

Education 3.0 moves us into a new direction, one that we are beginning to see. Content is free (think open educational resources) and readily available, It is more self-directed with a focus on creativity, problem solving and innovation.

As always there is a wealth of resources available in the post.

Betsy Eubanks's curator insight, March 23, 2013 10:39 AM
