Digital storytelling: How to tell a story that stands out in the digital age

Digital storytelling: How to tell a story that stands out in the digital age | My Library Stuff | Scoop.it

Jasper Visser: "To address the most important issue first: there is no such thing as digital storytelling. There’s only storytelling in the digital age, and frankly speaking this isn’t much different from storytelling in the age of hunters, gatherers, dinosaurs and ICQ" ...

Opinion: The library: a community’s place to gather

Opinion: The library: a community’s place to gather | My Library Stuff | Scoop.it
I didn’t grow up with books. My family didn’t go to libraries. In fact, I don’t come with any of the typical librarian origin stories of a childhood spent falling in love with the written word.

Surviving InfoWhelm: Information Fluency to the Rescue | My Library Stuff | Scoop.it

The 21st Century Fluency Project’s stance on the importance of information fluency as a skill in the standard digital age survival toolbox applies to students, teachers, and everyday people just like you and me. It focuses on the skills we need by illustrating them in the 5 A’s—Ask, Acquire, Analyze, Apply, and Assess. We’ll use these as a foundation for strategies you can use to find what you’re really looking for in the age of InfoWhelm.

How Twitter is Reinventing Collaboration Among Educators

How Twitter is Reinventing Collaboration Among Educators | My Library Stuff | Scoop.it

TWITTER TRANSFORMS EDUCATORS Before the advent of Twitter, most educators I know had limited opportunities to collaborate with colleagues outside their building. Some subscribed to listservs or participated in online forums, but these outlets lacked critical mass; teachers also networked at in-person conferences and training sessions, but these isolated events didn't provide ongoing support. Enter Twitter. I've heard many educators say that Twitter is the most effective way to collaborate and that they've learned more with Twitter than they have from years of formal professional development
