The Life of the Connected Commuter - Infographic

Social’s on the move. Welcome to the city hall that never sleeps—where people are more likely to tweet about a pothole or support bike lanes on Facebook than go to a city council meeting.

City governments that want to keep a finger on the pulse of their transit arteries don’t need an invitation. They just need to know how to listen, which will help them figure out the life of the connected commuter, as depicted in our graphic with IBM.

How often have you checked your social media accounts today? Feeling unplugged is a problem for many people.  This infographic from mylife.com illustrates how people are addicted to social media, and what they rather do than give up their Internet lifeline.

Two out of three people are afraid they’re missing something important on email, Facebook, Twitter, or other accounts. In the same survey, three out of five people wished there was a solution to monitor their various communication options.

This infographic is based on the survey by Harris, and conveys a growing trend—social media overload...

The anxiety about missing out is not something new - it is like a child who doesn't want to go to bed when the others (adults, older children) are still having fun. It is simply in a new arena. This being connected all the time to digital media and communications devices is the new thing - not the anxiety.

We'll learn to live with it - nice infographic.

Ask anyone to name the most popular social media tools used by students, and it’s a safe bet everybody could name the top two: Facebook and Twitter.

But those are far from the only online applications making inroads. As administrators warm to engaging students through social media, the list of potential resources at their disposal grows longer by the day.

Facebook and Twitter are the obvious choices. But there are other options- Tumblr, YouTube and Google+, to name three.

Of course, if naming the latest social media tools seems tough, learning how to use them all is harder still. In an attempt to shorten the learning curve, Flowtown and Column Five published this Social Media Cheat Sheet for your reference...

Social Influencers: Digital Marketing’s Most Overlooked Resource

Social Influencers: Digital Marketing’s Most Overlooked Resource | Better know and better use Social Media today (facebook, twitter...) | Scoop.it

It is hard to believe that in a digital world where people are so connected, it still seems to be completely difficult for businesses to use that to their advantage to more efficiently maximize their ROI. Companies continue to spend on banner ads instead of on the people who can really make a difference in the way people purchase.

This infographic should help researchers and advertisers see what great potential there is in the power of social media and general online influence. Bloggers, tweeters, and Facebook champions really can be wise investments; read more at the article link.

How and Why Social Engineering Works [Infographic]

How and Why Social Engineering Works [Infographic] | Better know and better use Social Media today (facebook, twitter...) | Scoop.it

For many people in today’s world, being “online” has become a constant status. High-speed internet, smart phones and tablet PC’s have enabled us to stay connected whenever and wherever we are.

Social hackers capitalize on vulnerabilities when it comes to keeping personal details private, and the problem has only seemed to get worse as the digital age has developed.

Techniques as simple as looking over a shoulder as someone enters bank details or passwords are often used, as well as sending out deceiving emails ridden with malware and viruses that can take control of your computer. Hackers pose as a trusted entity in email blasts that utilize mind tricks to get the viewer to click on the link that will trigger the infection of your computer.

Everyone with an internet connection is vulnerable, and public awareness is the first step in ending this growing problem...
