Jean Barr could have saved herself the trouble of writing this article. The whole thing could be summed up in two words - Bain Principle.


For those not familiar with the term, it takes its name from British Labour MP, Willy Bain, and refers to the principle that British Labour politicians are obliged to oppose progressive policies which they would otherwise favour if those policies are embraced by the Scottish National Party.
