Realistic pencil drawings by award winning artist J. D. Hillberry. Drawing techniques, tutorials, and galleries of original graphite pencil and charcoal artwork plus fine art prints of western, still-life, trompe l'Oeil and others.
What looks like a gorgeous seashore of colored rocks in the water, are actually skillfully-made pencil drawings by Ester Roi! Based in Southern California, Italy-born artist also uses crayons and oil pastels, combining both drawing and painting as she works. The vibrantly-colored rocks in water has been one of her main objects for the last several years already: “I study them above and below the surface, and observe how their visual characteristics change and relate to each other. I relish the contrast between a solid rock above the surface and its restless reflection below,” she says. “Water transforms everything it touches: hard lines become soft, warm colors cool, solid shapes break down into parts. Realism evolves into abstraction and the ordinary becomes extraordinary.”
