World’s smallest blood monitoring implant tells your smartphone when you’re about to have a heart attack

World’s smallest blood monitoring implant tells your smartphone when you’re about to have a heart attack | Digital Lifestyle Technologies | Scoop.it

A team of scientists at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland have developed the world’s smallest medical implant to monitor critical chemicals in the blood. The 14mm device measures up to five indicators, including proteins like troponin, that show if and when a heart attack has occurred. Using Bluetooth, the device can then transmit the data to a smartphone for tracking.

Want that abandoned Twitter handle? Use TweetClaims.com and get in line | Digital Lifestyle Technologies | Scoop.it

Getting a good Twitter name can be very tough!

Many of the good names are taken and many of them aren’t even being used, frustrating users who’d like to put a good name to good use. Twitter says it’s planning a way to make abandoned names available again, and a new service, TweetClaims, lets you sign up to be notified when names you like become available again.

François-Xavier Schaeffer's insight:

So if there’s an @name that you’ve been dying to be known as for the rest of your life — say @soccer for instance, give it a shot.

A flippin iPhone and it's beautiful

Scene from one of my favorite shows: IT Crowd.

The IT Crowd is a British sitcom. Set in the London offices of the fictional Reynholm Industries, the show revolves around the three staff members of its IT department: a geeky genius named Maurice Moss, the workshy Roy Trenneman, and Jen Barber, the department head who knows nothing about IT.
