Joyce Bettencourt's curator insight, July 10, 9:43 AM

"Asked if he has any advice for the new generation of virtual artists, Berg had this to share: "[W]elcome new mediums, but don't let yourself be guided by them... Wyeth's paintings were never about watercolor, or wheat fields. It was about the expression and the way of seeing the world, and using a dry brush technique that conveyed the quiet, thoughtful mind behind it. Calvin and Hobbes surely wasn't about the newspapers' color print process capable of printing those beautiful half page spreads, but was about Bill Watterson's understanding of the medium, audience, and himself." And therefore, this: "Avoid showcasing a particular technological capability," Berg says, "but instead, build experiences that remind us how human we are and have always been.""

Sharon Bakar's comment, July 10, 7:33 PM
Thanks so much for posting this. i really miss AM Radio's work, and it's lovely to read about the artist behind the avatar.

it’s clear that this kind of distance-neutral communication can serve two valuable purposes in a world seeking to advance the human condition without causing too much environmental harm .... There’s no driving or flying, of course. And people can be exposed to ideas and images streamed live in one place, ask questions of the presenter, and learn about one another."

Oculus is the awesome part of technology.

By this product the virtual reality goes real.

It has changed the future of gaming.

To change the futre of navy the work is in progress. Hopes are that this technology could allow the control, or repair, of ships in real time from thousands of miles away.
