Sean Riggins's curator insight, September 13, 2014 11:13 AM

This article comes from gigaom.com, the leading global voice on emerging technologies. The focus of the report was to say that analysis predicts that 70% of digital music revenue will be streaming services by 2019. To prove the point the author mentions Apple (iTunes) acknowledging the movement of our industry and music sales by highlighting that the company bought Beats. The author suggests that the acquisition was for the Beats streaming service. I choose to add this article because I'm sure most of the general public feels Apple bought Beats because of the headphones so I thought it would be insightful to share that they were more interested in securing future music revenue with the shift in how people want their music. I think this is a wise move on Apple's part in terms of staying ahead of the curve.
