I think the digital age will do nothing but good for artists. Being able to make your music how you want, without someone breathing down your neck telling you what's right and what's wrong, can only do wonders for what musicians are willing to branch out into. That artists won't also have to deal with the same people saying they deserve the lion's share of the profits when it's the artist's work, and the artist's career at stake, while maintaining the position that they, as investors, also deserve the rights to the music made, will encourage more new talent to enter the industry. Since the predatory record companies are now only an optional choice, instead of the only one.
