EungKyun Kim's insight:

I love this idea that people can personalize their track list. By listening to the regular radio station, I can have chance to listen to new music that I did not know. However, sometimes, they play some songs that I do not want to listen and they do not play what I want to listen. By personalizing my own track list, I can listen the song that I want all the time. I think this is really good idea to provide personalized radio station to the public.

EungKyun Kim's insight:

Google is the one of the most popular company in the entertainment industry. It is very interesting that Google launched streaming music service. Spotify and Pandora are the most influential music streaming service from now. However, I think that the fact Google got into music streaming industry, as well as Apple, will change the trend in the industry.

I think it would be a waste of time if Google tried coming out with another music streaming service. The article itself says that there is nothing unique about the service that Google is going to provide. However, if the service offered video or game content in addition to the music, I think the Google service would do relatively well in comparison with Spotify, Pandora, Rdio, and Apple's planned release.

Clint Sing's curator insight, January 15, 2014 6:21 PM

This is very great for Google, beacuse this will give Google more business. Alot of people love being able to get music instantly to their device.

Sunny Park's curator insight, January 19, 2014 4:55 PM

The article explains that Google launched the music streaming sevice and lets users to listen to unlimited songs. All users have to pay fee for a month for unlimited songs. Google adopted streaming music model ahead of Apple. The music streaming service includes milions of tracks from Universal Music and etc. I think Google must be responsible for losing money or not earning much money. The reason is that there are so many music streaming services that people can listen to songs. However, I believe that because Google is a huge company, people will use a lot. Also, Google pioneered online music purchase with iTunes. So, I think when Google completes launching streaming music service, people will use.

For labels, Apple's iRadio deal could be sweeter than Pandora

For labels, Apple's iRadio deal could be sweeter than Pandora | Music Streaming | Scoop.it
Apple is close to a deal with two major music labels to bring to life its streaming-music service, which could pay labels better than Pandora does. Read this article by Paul Sloan on CNET News.

EungKyun Kim's insight:

As Apple started to jump in to the music streaming industry, they have to prepare for their largest competitor, Pandora. It was very interesting that Apple pays the labels a per-stream rate which is less than what Padora pays. However, Apple offers a new revenue stream from advertisement. I think Apple established a great strategy against Pandora.

EungKyun Kim's insight:

Spotify is the one of the most popular music streaming services in the world. It is true that main consumer of Spotify is young generation. Plus, Spotify always bring the issues of their pricing. I think it is very good strategy to promote their service with discount for college students, but I think 50% is too much. I kind of worried about artist's side as well.
