Joshua Ming's curator insight, September 16, 2:35 PM

Streaming music is becoming a big thing today and social media like Facebook wants to be first in profiting from it. Bloomberg.com is a credible source for information. Its reliable because it talks specifically about why Facebook wants to own music rights from recording labels. This is key information for anyone who wants to start a record label and are worried about how their going to sell their music.

Christopher Jenkins's curator insight, September 17, 6:47 PM

Simply Outrageous. Facebook already has billions of dollars, First they copy Snapchat, Then they made it to where you can send money to each other like Venmo or Cashapp, and now they want to become Soundcloud or Itunes all in one? I know its business, but that is just simply greedy. I believe one day Facebook will take it too far and will completely Pummel to the ground. They are already stalking people, hacking in to their messages invading peoples privacy.

Facebook Inc. is offering major record labels and music publishers hundreds of millions of dollars so the users of its social network can legally include songs in videos they upload, according to people familiar with the matter.

The posting and viewing of video on Facebook has exploded in recent years, and many of the videos feature music to which Facebook doesn’t have the rights. Under current law, rights holders must ask Facebook to take down videos with infringing material.
