Tom Camden's insight:

This article goes in depth about how coachella has involved over time. Coachella isnt just about the music anymore. The event has now become a household name and is an event everyone is dying to go to to just so they can post it all over twitter and instagram. I thought it was very interesting that a lot of people dont even go to the event for the music. Its really great to see how this festival has evovled and how much money it brings in every year. I think that coachella is the festival that really shaped modern music festivals and has done a lot for social media and artists.

New Rock Festival to Hit Boston in May...

New Rock Festival to Hit Boston in May... | Music Festivals | Scoop.it
New York has the Governor’s Ball. Chicago has Lollapalooza. San Francisco has Outside Lands. Austin has the Austin City Limits Festival. New Orleans has Jazz Fest. And now Boston has Boston Calling.

Tom Camden's insight:

I thought this article really gives you a good idea of what it takes to put on a music festival and how big of a risk it can be. Music festivals can be a tricky market because they are targeted to a large market and a lot of people need to attend for the festival to even be a sucess. I felt like the promoters interviewed in the article had a lot of experiance in the industry and knew how they could make this festival sucessfull. Im glad that boston is the next city to try and make a major music festival like chigago and tennesse already have. I would love to see how this festival grows.

I found that this video gives you a good overview of some of the most important music festivals in history. This video also gives you an idea how these festivals have also crossed over and made a name for themselves and became a part of pop coulture. This video gives you a grasp of destination festivals and touring festivals. This video also serves as a guide on festivals to check out, The only thing that is wrong with this video is that it is all oppion on the ranking

Tom Camden's insight:

This article really gives you a good idea on how big of a festival bonaroo is. The article includes the line up for all 4 days and just by looking at the line up you can see how diverse this festival is and how the crowd is made up of a wide variety of people. This article is good for someone who is interested in attending bonnaroo or wants to learn about it. Bonaroo is becoming one of the largest festival in the united states and i think its important for everyone in the industry to know about this festival.

Are Music Festivals Unfairly Targeted For Drugs?
Tom Camden's insight:

I felt that this article was very credible and had a lot of statistics and had interviews with the promoters of music festivals where drug over dose has happned. This article leaves the information the table and allows you to develop your own oppion about it. I myself think that edm music festivals are being targeted for drig use. I feel like this sort of thing happens all the time and that certain festivals are the scape goat. I do think it is a problem and should fixed but its not just happening at dance festivals

Steve Nova's curator insight, April 13, 6:54 PM

Many people say that music festivals encourage people to take drugs and experience new things. The increase of people overdosing and dying at these festivals has grown tremendously but mainly because music festivals have grown and have became more popular.

RFID Wristband: About The Latest In Music Festival Technology At Bonnaroo, Bamboozle, Coachella And More

RFID Wristband: About The Latest In Music Festival Technology At Bonnaroo, Bamboozle, Coachella And More | Music Festivals | Scoop.it

The best part of this new technology is the ability to pay for things through a pre-funded bracelet, eliminating the need to carry cash or CC.  Sweet! ~ Tonia

Music festival season is in full swing, and while it is pretty obvious how much work goes into organizing the event and setting up the stages, something you don't think about are the tickets.

Tom Camden's insight:

I found this article to be a very interesting read and think that RFID wristband technology is the wave of the future. These wristabands are brilliant! It is amazing that you are able to cut down the time it takes to get into a festival and you can also use the wristbands to buy items at the festival. It is so easy to lose your wallet or money at a festival. I think its amazing you can load funds on these braclets so you can buy things at the show and not have to worry about losing your money since the braclets are waterproof and dont break. I wouldnt be suprised if all concerts started using RFID wristband technology.

Pros and cons of this article.

Pros: I think the idea of RFID wristband technology is briliant and will change the concert industry.

RFID wristband technolog elliminates ticket fraud.

Cons: I think this article is really trying to sell you on the idea since its on a bussiness website so it may be biased.

I think alot of people would be reluctant to the idea of using a wristband instead of having a ticket because a lot of people see a concert ticket as a souvineer.

Marisa Freund's curator insight, November 4, 2013 1:36 PM

I found this article very interesting and I think that the RFID wristbands are possibly the best idea ever. These wristbands allow you to purchase your tickets, and add money to the wristband so you do not have to worry about losing your credit card or cash while you are walking around.
