Study: Internet Piracy Is 'Tenacious and Persistent' | Internet Pirates | Scoop.it
Despite the best efforts of Internet service providers, advertisers and ad networks to stop copyright infringement on the Internet, piracy is still a runaway train. In January 2013, 432 million unique users infringed on copyright material, up 10 percent from 2011, per a NetNames study commissioned by NBCUniversal.
Willi Fatal's insight:

This article references some studies but doesn't site any. This is more of an observation. Once again the subject isn't much of a research subject. Although, the author does quote statistics based upon a study initiated by a reputable source NBCUniversal and quotes by someone actually in the field of anti-piracy, I chose this article based on the subject of stopping piracy. The author mentions that advertisement companies are blocking ads from piracy sites to stop revenue. If you have ever ben to a bit torrent site they don't advertise   products or known services its just porn and adult meeting sites.

Willi Fatal's insight:

This is a good article. It doesn't have any references, but it quotes the owners of the bit torrent sites. This article was written in the NY Times a renowned national  publication. The subject matter is a more observed topic rather than a researched one. The author doesn't talk about numbers just how pirates are always one step ahead.
