Benjamin Gomez's insight:

I respect how Hopsin came up, for he did it on his own without getting signed and created his own label, and i plan to do the same thing.

GetAtMe-NewCutOnDeck-Eminem - Rap God Lyrics

“Rap God” Eminem

Okay, there are time when some records are put out for the indulgence of the artist.  This is one of those records ( it topped the online sales this week with over 24,000  units sold).  I think Kendrick Lamar must have struck a nerve because Eminem went in on this one.  This wasn’t made for radio or crafted to be a hit.  It seemed that Eminem wanted to have a Billy Cobham moment (famous jazz drummer google him) and just decided to beat up this track.  Now to the trick is to not only beat up the track but make what you’re doing both lyrically relevant and entertaining.  Well Em accomplished that on this one.

Em doesn’t go to war wih other rappers on this one.  He went to war with the track (and Em won).  Here’s the NewCutStats:

THE TRACK- 4($$$$) this track is sort of weird but it works and somehow doesn’t get in the way of his performance…

THE PERFORMANCE- 5($$$$$) Em beat up the track, nuff said…

MUSCLE- 4($$$$) this one has a quiet roar in the streets.  He has so many fan waiting, the numbers just jumped…

JUICE- 3($$$) this isn’t a radio cut per se, this is a fan cut and radio will have to decide whether it fits in their rotation…

LYRICS- 5($$$$$) off the chain, but be prepared to have to relisten.  He’s going fast on this one

BUZZ- 4($$$$) like I said, his fans are waiting……

TOTAL- 25pts out of 30pts (A- grade) Eminem went in on this fan cut.

GetAtMe TopTenPowerRankings 1/12/2014 Eminem Still at #1 (wow)

GetAtMe TopTenPowerRankings 1/12/2014 Eminem Still at #1 (wow) | Great Rappers | Scoop.it

Ok here’s what’s going on this week with the GetatMeTopTenPowerRankings.   Going on 4 weeks in a row is Eminem’s “Monster”ft Rihanna, at #1 (this has been purely driven by his online sales, he’s crushing em.)  Future’s “Honest” reentered the Charts with strong radio play last week at #2 (this song goes up and down).  August Alisina’s “I Luv This Sh*t” held on at #3 and Rico Love’s “They Don’t Know”, shot up from #9 to #4.  Drake’s “Hold On” reentered (from strong radio numbers) at #5 and MikeWillMadeIt’s “23” ft Miley Cyrus dropped from #4 to #6 (caused by the amp up of new product coming out by Miley “Real and True”.  Radio needs to quit playing on this one.  Miley and Future are hot on this song).  Yo Gotti’s “Cold Blood” ft J. Cole stayed at #7 and Drake’s “All Me” fell from #5 to #8.  Kid Ink’s “Show Me” ft Chris Brown is a new entry at #9 along with B.O.B.’s “Ready” ( a comer) at #10.

The cuts to look out for are, T-Pain’s “Up/Down” and J. Cole’s “She Knows”.

I’m ReggieRedd and that the GetAtMe TopTenPowerRankings for 1/12/2014.

J.Coles is highlighted for his bold use of his religious roots.

Pros: he uses his belief as a platform he isnt denying his roots but uses it as a motivation to go forward.

Cons: J. Cole uses his religious views in his music but doesnt live up to the things he believes he sometimes become drawn away from his former way.
