Royal Pingdom: Google Music has a lot of catching up to do: iTunes by the numbers

Royal Pingdom: Google Music has a lot of catching up to do: iTunes by the numbers | Music business | Scoop.it
Google Music went live almost nine years after Apple opened the doors to its iTunes Store. To see what Google is up against, we have collected a plethora of numbers about iTunes from all over the Web.
As you will see, Google is facing some long odds. We hope for Google’s sake this isn’t a case of too little, too late, considering what a behemoth they are competing with.

That simple? This statement supposes that people would buy albums if they are not available to stream. But... Did they when streaming didn't exist and illegal downloading was the only alternative?

The question is: is streaming  an alternative to illegal and legal downloading?

The App Is the New Album (Or Something Like That...) | Music business | Scoop.it

This source is reliable to producers in the audio industry due to the fact that it is about a very popular app used by artists to sell and share music. The app allows artists to share music to followers and fans as well as provide links to itunes and amazon for them to buy. This relates to my topic because it talks about a social network where artists interact with fans and other  artists to share music and opinions.
