"Los museos se configuran hoy en día no sólo como unos exponentes de obras de arte sino que en ellos se encierran distintos modos de creatividad que ofrecen variadas tendencias del panorama visual contemporáneo con el fin de convertirse en espacios híbridos de estilos independientes y colectivos, abiertos a cualquier tipo de manifestación. En el siguiente artículo se plantean, en líneas generales, las magnitudes que ofrece el espacio museístico como medio de creación para captar a diferentes sectores de público".
Primer Museo Viviente de la Radio y Comunicaciones
Pionero en el Uruguay, fue fundado por el Sr. Antonio Tormo y su esposa, Ligia Ferreira, el 15 de mayo de 1991. Compuesto por equipos museológicos en funcionamiento, como ser la Radio a Galena del año 1926, un grabador de alambre de 1938 en el cual está registrada la voz de Guillermo Marconi. Se aprecian teléfonos del año 1916 y 1950, en funcionamiento. Bibliografía y documentos. Grabaciones discográficas en una "Victrola" de corneta de 1904. Las primeras lámparas de luz de Thomas Alva Edison fabricadas en 1904, y radio transmisores de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Proyectores de cine, colección de teléfonos celulares, de computadoras personales, cámaras fotográficas, fotografías de principios de S. XIX, rollos de pianola, trasmisores y receptores de radioaficionados construidos artesanalmente, máquinas de escribir, radioteletipos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y posguerra, 5000 válvulas de radio desde el año 1922-1980s, colección de transistores de primera generación, videograbadoras, grabadores de cinta, micrófonos, grabaciones en cilindros de cera, etc.
