Come join the Electronic Village Online (by Carla Arena) – Teaching Village | Mundos Virtuales, Educacion Conectada y Aprendizaje de Lenguas | Scoop.it

Every year, we gather for five weeks to network, to connect, to have fun, to meet like-minded international educators, and to dare. It is that time when we gain new insights on how to make a difference in our educational contexts, when we give ourselves some time to test new possibilities in the classroom in an environment where every educator is invited to experiment with the many choices they are given in the many online sessions they can opt to join.

- Using a Mobile Device is Not Mobile Learning

The Resource for Education Technology Leaders focusing on K-12 educators.
Dr. Doris Molero's insight:

Yep.... Mobile learning... there's a diference..

Some characteristics of mobile learning (CLIP)

+ Collaboration and Communication:  Students work with other students and adults in the class, in the school, in the community, in the state, in the country and or in other countries to increase their learning.  Central New York English students have students from Australia as peer reviewers for their essays.

+ Location and Mobility:  Students use their mobile devices outside of the classroom to capture information or to share localized information. Students go to a river and video record  river data for others to look at.

+ Interactivity and  Production:  Students do not just consume information, they produce it.  Students record local history from their town to share with others.

+ Purpose and Goals: Students focus on the big learning, the essential learning. They put information together as in project- based learning about the math involved in a garden. -

Dr. Doris Molero's insight:

“How often will you hear that failure is an option? Sounds very defeatist! However, failure can be a valuable experience. Humans make mistakes, but they learn from their mistakes. A game-based learning experience personifies the practice of learning through failure. Jolie Barker, an innovative teacher, showcases her experiences with game-based learning and the rewards of higher scores on tests—and better behavior from engaged and excited students—in the following article she wrote for eSchool News.”

Dr. Doris Molero's insight:

• Aprender a conocer
• Aprender a hacer
• Aprender a vivir juntos, aprender a vivir con los demás
• Aprender a ser

Future Models of Learning - Debate

Future Models of Learning - Debate | Mundos Virtuales, Educacion Conectada y Aprendizaje de Lenguas | Scoop.it

Does new technology conflict with or complement established teaching and learning? What is the impact on the teaching profession as we have traditionally known it? Will the power of the internet, with new innovations such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), create an unstoppable ‘avalanche’ of education reform, or are these reforms a false revolution? Can the value of face-to-face quality learning and student-teacher relationships ever really be questioned, at any level of education? Will the class room, lecture theatre, and traditional notion of education space – schools and universities – be usurped by a screen, online and distance learning, or alternative spaces such as the workplace, home, or concert-hall?
